We just moved into the area, decided to pop in and see if this could be our local spot. It’s a little pricier than some other spots but we were happy with the generous amount of toppings and the garlic rosemary calzone. We will be back!

Ah, Pizza Capers. I just don’t know. I have been here in excess of ten times, and I was embarrassingly probably one of the best customers at their previous Flinders St store. My opinions are so mixed, but ultimately they’re probably negative. ~ Best pizzas, without a doubt. I cannot convey that enough. The flavoured crusts on all their pizzas are just so delicious; they’ve got me going back again and again and again. ~ Their service is HORRIBLE. Like, worst service I have ever experienced. Their online web ordering form is shoddy. It also allows you to order stuff they don’t actually even have in stock, causing issues at payment time because they have to remove stuff from the online order. Also their social media policies are pretty atrocious; they love ignoring comments on Twitter and even emails to them(will discuss this further below). They send out a lot of tweets to appear like they’re involved with social media, but you cannot actually contact them via any of these channels it seems. ~ Their health practices are questionable. This is going to sound almost unbelievable, but I have found *hair* baked in to the pizza on two separate occasions. Disgusting, right?(This was the reason I emailed them & attempted to make contact on Twitter; no response). ~ Their Flinders St store randomly closed one day and never reopened. The address stayed live on their site for another four months before it got removed. No idea what happened there, but it was in an incredibly convenient location for me. Apart from all those negative things, Pizza Capers does excel in a few, rare areas: ~ They’re creative when it comes to their menu items. Try one of their calzones. Or one of their desserts! The pear and white chocolate calzone is pretty delicious, albeit almost impossible to eat without looking like you have a disability. ~ A lot of their items of the menu are gluten free. More and more people seem to be sensitive to wheat and gluten, and being able to still enjoy completely unhealthy food while simultaneously having food allergies is always a positive, right? Overall, there is no question in my mind that they make the most delicious pizzas in Melbourne. However, everything else they do is an abysmal failure: from the cleanliness, to customer inclusion & satisfaction, to online ordering, to social media; it’s all horrible. Pizza is 5 stars, everything else is 1.
