Smith Reserve

Living as close to the city as us Fitzroy/​Collingwood kids do, we often miss out on some of the more glorious aspects of living out in the ‘burbs, one in particular being parks and open spaces.
If you’re lazy like me, you probably can’t be bothered to jump on a tram to the ever-​spectacular Edinburgh Gardens, so instead let’s settle for second best (or maybe fourth or fifth best) the Smith Reserve.
Don’t come here expecting gorgeous gardens, grass so green it’s almost blinding and gorgeous hipsters getting married. But you can expect a big open space to run around with your dog, a barbecue to cook away your Sunday afternoon and even a small playground to play on with the kids.
Smith Reserve is not a breathtaking secret garden, but it is the perfect spot to get some quality me-​time with a good book.
