Really good and really friendly. Favorites would have to be the meat balls and the lamb rack at least two dinners a week come from here. Also word is if you are into brisket(smoked) this is the place to get the meat.

My favourite butcher. These guys are always so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them, from cutting up bones for my dog, to giving me great tips on exactly how to cook a different cut of meat. I recommend the Italian meatballs in the prepacked fridge… these are delicious. Their prices are a little more expensive than the iga next door, but there’s more choice and better quality. There are also your more exotic meats in the fridges.

As an Expat, we are constantly searching for«strange» cuts of meat by Australian-standard. To give an example. Us Texans love brisket. You know what Australian’s do with brisket? They use it in dog food. Classic. Y’all are that rich! Truth be told, it is a delicacy to us because we smoke it. I guess if you take 14 hours to smoke a meat, anything turns into a delicacy. I remember as a child going to the butchers with my Mama, and that was quite a long time ago. Store-owner butchers have long-been out of a job. You can find any cut of meat you want from the grocery store(HEB!). There is no need to make that extra-stop at a Butchers. It doesn’t make it better or worse, just different. I enjoy going to the butchers over here, especially when a relationship is formed. The owner here at Barbaro is wholesomely nice. We called ahead and he saved us a brisket. He cut it to our size specification and scored it for us. We also wanted unseasoned drummets. While he didn’t have any on the floor, he went into the back and cut them up for us in a few minutes. The amazing customer service was so worth the drive! The place is clean, ample selection and truly embodies a «Ma and Pop» shop. i.e. There is a picture of his baby son eating a lamb-pop on the wall. For that, it takes me back to a simpler time, of which I now live in Perth. This is one of those businesses that I’ll be supporting as long as I live here.
