The food is delicious, especially the dessert menu! The main menu is a little pricey, and not exactly extensive. But it is a small Café, so that’s fair. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. We love going to dux for dinner. And their lunch menu is delicious too!

We had Christmas lunch at Dux mid week as we were lucky enough to get a booking the Friday before Christmas! The menu is fantastic and all items were described with good detail. I had the rack of lamb which was served with potato purée flavoured with olives, a small lamb shoulder pie(so tasty) and pea purée. My colleagues had the fish of the day and the duck confit, which was a popular choice! We all really enjoyed the food. Perfect portion size, delicious flavours and nice presentation. We finished with coffee and tea. I loved that they even go to the detail of serving good quality leaf teas which only added to the quality of our experience. I highly recommend this hidden gem!

The Dux café is on South Terrace in Como and have actually been in the area for over ten years. It is a cosy little restaurant that has a strong local following and hosts sell-out degustations and wine dinners on a regular basis. Dux Café have a number of gluten free options and the chef is happy to adapt other options to make them gluten free. Dux offer an alternate dining option for those looking for a relaxed café with a bit of finesse away from the Vic Park and South Perth café strips. Whilst the savoury dishes that we chose did not leave me spinning with excitement, our dessert was something quite interesting and definitely something I would be keen to return back for.

Have only been here once but really enjoyed it for my birthday. Gorgeous food, lovely menu and great service. Can’t wait to go back again soon. Its a hidden gem that many South Perth residents don’t even know about!

Well I listened to my mom and trusted her judgement and palate when she chose Dux for lunch. Sorry mom, big mistake. I still love you though. She chose Dux since she’s a vegan and they also cook gluten free. Firstly, this wasn’t worth the drive, nor the petrol. The service was extremely slow. I don’t like being negative but when you’re spending 42 quid per lunch entrée, I definitely would’ve expected more. Not just in the quality of the food but also in the area of service. It took 40 minutes for us to be seated, well that’s when I stopped counting, so it could have been longer, even though there were several tables available. None of which we were seated at in a timely manner. Once we were seated it seemed to take eternity to just get our water. The server was very apologetic, but after the second and third apology, I tend not to be so accepting of apologies. My mom swears that the service has always been impeccable from her previous experiences at Dux. I unforunately didn’t see it. I ordered the Duo of Beef. It comes wih a grilled medallion of Wagyu beef, braised organic short ribs, organic mushrooms, pesto, and potato croquette. The Wagyu beef was actually cooked perfectly, along with the croquette(hard to botch a potato croquette), but the short ribs were definitely overcooked, very dry. My mom had the fig and blue cheese salad. C’mon mom, we drove all the way here, just so you can order a bloody salad. Like you couldn’t of ordered a salad around the corner from home or just made one at the house. I figure I’ll be generous just because my mom recommended it and give Dux 3 stars, because I don’t know if she reads my Unilocal reviews.

Café around the corner! I have been going to Dux Café for the last few years ever since I moved in nearby. I have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have had my fair share of takeaway cappuccinos and bacon and egg sandwiches(when I wasn’t so concerned about diet). My findings are the same as most other people that frequent this place. The service is exceptional to none. The owners who work there are very friendly and approachable. The food is delicious and the presentation is great. But the food is on the expensive side. Me and Susan popped in last night for a very pleasant dinner experience. We started with a shared entrée of Seared Scallops, ‘Big Red’ pork, fennel and apple salad, cider and thyme jus. This was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. For mains we chose the Rabbit, pancetta, verjuice, crème fraiche and thyme sauce, green beans, Dux mustard and the ‘Big Red’ Free Range Pork Trio, pan-fried loin, onion jam, slow cooked belly, crumbed rillette, celeriac purée, orange infused capsicum essence accompanied with a glass of Shiraz each. To finish off we chose to share the Frozen Trio of burnt caramel ice cream, strawberry sorbet, chocolate mousse, fudgy hazelnut and chocolate with salted caramel sauce for desert. Another great concoction. Overall the dining experience was amazing. The only criticism I could find for late night dining here was that it was overly lit up. Less bright lighting would be a good idea. Otherwise it got a bit noisy but that was more due to a large group of people as part of a function that night. The ambiance otherwise was very good and the temperature inside was very comfortable. Great service(we were asked how our meals were at each course) with a smile. This place is a great option for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even to just sample one of their great coffees!

I have been going to Dux regularly for brunch since it opened and I am a huge fan. Folks, the scrambled eggs here are excellent! The juices are fresh and, if you’re adventurous(and not on your way to work!), there are bloody marys and mimosas on the breakfast menu to have with your home-made hash browns. Be warned: it’s not cheap. But the service is fantastic and very attentive, the coffee is great, there a fresh muffins every day, the breakfast menu is simple but everthing on it is delicious… I love it. Now I just have to make time to come here for meals later in the day. I’ll be back to review lunch and dinner later for sure…

I have a friend who lives round the corner from Dux. She’s a regular, so we grabbed a drink there a while back and she wanted to go to their set menu New Year’s Eve event. $ 115 for 5 drinks and tapas, which we thought was pretty good value. The food was great, pretty standard tapas fare; fried sauage, seafood, lots of dips and breads, finishing with a lemon tart. I do find the décor and the menu a little dated, but the food is great.
