We were a party of 12 and were in the private dining room next door. Our host has used this venue many times and Im sure this was part of the very good experience we had. It was a set menu with a couple choices. It was a perfect and intimate setting where we could easily visit with all of the guests. Our service was very good and the food was divine. my only disappointment was that they didnt have a full bar so instead of having bourbon I had wine, but it was all good.

Went with a group of 6 from work for dinner. I am very fussy about how my steak is cooked(rare) and they did a great job. They were also willing to swap the potatoes for parsnip mash which made the dish for me. Service was not speedy but also I didn’t feel like we were sitting an waiting for ages for our food.

Good steak but poor service. Steaks were all cooked to our liking and were all brought out in good time. However, we were waiting for a good 15 mins to place an order and we still had to then chase down a waitress to order some drinks. A shame really as they got the hard things right and the easy things wrong.

When Groupon-type deals are a dime a dozen, you can’t help but feel that the standard menu is overpriced and that they might be having trouble getting customers through the door without the deals. I was attracted to come here as Mumu grill is located in a great area — the middle of the busy strip of restaurants in Crows Nest. It’s a large restaurant and looks modern and trendy from the outside with a lot of diners(I know now that these were probably all Groupon-type diners) so I had high expectations. The meals are another story. It’s a grill so expect lots of meat(especially red meat). For the prices charged, the cuts of meat weren’t particularly high quality and were not cooked in some special way to justify the cost. Dessert was pricey too.

Best Grill in the North Shore. Love this place. I had pork 2 ways that was slow cooked for 15hrs. Beautiful. Thick cut chips. Yum yum yum. I m coming back for the ribs.

Most disappointing. Below-average food at above-average prices. The venue is not very clean(attention to detail is lacking). Four very drunk patrons were seated, served more alcohol and were abusive to staff – we had to ask to be moved. While very friendly, our waitress lacked knowledge of the venue and menu. We won’t return, even with another coupon.

Kill it… Kill it with fire! And, when you think it’s dead, kill it some more! Mumu had gigantic potential, and instead turned out to be a gigantic flop. We came here for a friends bday, and being a table of beer-swilling, meat-eating rednecks who between us have about 600 years worth of BBQing knowledge we had high hopes and even higher expectations. The night started with potential, the male server was obviously a manager and knew his cuts of meat like the back-of-his-hand. He waxed lyrically about sirloin tips, wagyu and angus, and the different grades of BMS(beef marble score) in the meats on offer. He had us salivating before a morsel had even been served. Unfortunately he did his job too well, and what we were expecting versus what was delivered, were two different streets in two different neighbourhoods, in two totally different cities. The steaks had no consistency and were either very overcooked(boot leather) or very undercooked(chunks of raw fat and chewy meat). For the astronomical price and the amazing propaganda this was just a titanic disappointment. No survivors. Not only would I never return here, I would go out of my way to ensure that none of my friends ever has to experience this egregious mistake.

We arrived for a birthday dinner for our son in law as he loves his meat. The overall experience was disappointing from no drink orders taken or offered after the first round without having to chase staff(don’t the staff knows this pays their wages and gives them a job when clients spend more money). Then meals coming out first then sides coming out approaching 10 minutes later then to be told that one of the sides was out of stock after the main meal arrived.

Nice restaurant with a smiling waitress from Mexico who give a lot of her selves. You feel you was warm welcome. Our beef ribs taste well and the Beer was cold, could we have it better?

Absolutely perfect slow cooked melt-in-your-mouth pork with quinoa and kale… Loved the healthy options and the fast, friendly service. Everything was wonderful and made for a great birthday dinner. The dessert — a cheesecake tarte with sorbet and pear — was luscious and decadent and everything a dessert should be. We’ll be back!

Starters: Wagyu meatballs with tomato sauce. Warming sauce over tasty meatballs. Mains: Peppered Sirloin and Slow cooked pork. Steak was rare and pepper was great, pork was tender and melting in the mouth. I have no idea what the folk before me had which made such a bad impression. Steak at its best, simply seasoned without being drowned in a gluggy sauce. Service was quick and friendly. Maybe some people need to come back to earth with their expectations?

Did a Tapas cooking class here on Saturday. The class was great! We learnt how to prepare and cook 4 dishes and a red wine sangria. The best part was sitting down afterwards and enjoying the food with the great people you meet in the class. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoonI highly recommend you check this out!

Very very disappointing. First up only 5 steak options on the menu for a steak house ?? Also all the steaks are embellished with thing like coffee, wrapped in prosciutto or covered in blue cheese(a turn off) i eventually ordered a mid rare steak and got mid well. Onion rings were oily and tasted like the oil hadn’t been changed in a while. Pork ribs were ok but nothing to rave about. And the service left a lot to be desired. First and last time. Not recommended.

I’d read the reviews. I’d seen the 2.5 stars it was given. I’d been given warnings from friends. Alas I could not avoid having to go to mumu grill for a friend’s birthday FOOD I followed the reviews so avoided the ribs and went for the scotch fillet($ 36.90). For the price I would have expected a pretty awesome steak but on the first bite all I could taste was a lot of fat. 6⁄10 of us ordered the scotch fillet so I asked around if anyone else had a big chunk of fat in their steak. Everyone else said no but as they moved through their steak everyone seemed to find that big chunk of fat somewhere. My friend found his piece of fat right at the end which just left him dissatisfied and still hungry.(So dissatisfied he actually cut the fat up just to make sure there wasn’t any hidden pieces of meat inside). The following picture may disturb some food lovers Took the other advice which was to avoid getting the chips or you’d need to share them. Mash was pretty good. Beans were not so good in my opinion. As noted in James M.‘s review chips were shared between 2 people. If you were lucky and the person next to you and opposite you ordered mash they you got your own individual bowl. The shared bowl however did not equal 2 individual bowls. As my friend said, in this situation it’s «better to be single». I am at a loss as to why they can’t just put the chips on the same plate as the steak like what they do with the mash. SERVICE We booked quite late(Thursday night booking for Saturday night dinner) but got a reservation at 6.30 for a party of 10. We were only told at 7pm whilst still waiting for the people running on Asian time that there was another group coming in at 8.30 so we only had the table till then. Ehhh thank you for the delayed warning. It would have been courteous to have been told when making the reservation or at least upon arrival that night. OVERALL An overpriced disappointment

Caught up with a few mates at mumu expecting giant super tender chunks of mouthwatering beef cooked to perfection. At the prices they charge I would expect at least something that good. So lets start with the service, the children serving us were doing their best but honestly should have been working their usual shift at Maccas. It was slow and clumsy. The food all of our meals came with a side of chips, yum, at least thats what I expected. What turned up was one tiny bowl of chips, and apparently the one bowl was all of our chips combined, great excuse to have us order another bowl of insanely priced chips. Then the steak and the ribs both were pretty terrible the steak was cold in the middle the ribs were fatty with not much meat or sauce. Goodbye Mumu i will never be crossing your doorway again. As a side note their prices had just gone up when I called because their internet prices differed from what we had paid…

Let’s talk about Ribfest, because although I’ve had very fine steak and even good ribs at Mumu in the past, it’s sadly this tragedy that will always define my Mumu experience. Ribfest IV was awful. It’s hard to believe that a unique night dedicated to the glorious rib could produce such an ill-conceived and ineptly executed string of dishes, but that’s exactly what happened. For the brave out there — let’s break it down. We started with two varieties of pork ribs, the paltry racks dry and bland: despite claims of barbecue, there wasn’t a hint of the sweet, tender sauciness you might expect. It was instead the odd ‘XO’ seasoning which was the better of the two — already sign of impending doom. I mean if you screw up the pork ribs, you’ve got Buckley’s of succeeding with anything else. While the house sauce on the beef ribs might have been great if it had been cooked long enough to caramelize — I know it can be great, I’ve had the same sauce in better contexts — the ribs themselves were awful, layered with dense, unrendered straps of fat to such a degree as it was a harrowing experience to try getting through. In truth when the fork was down it was all I could do to prod a few fries at the sauce and hope that the damage was already done. Too bad the lamb ribs were the worst of the lot. Without even the gimmick of a whacky sauce concoction — just pepper — the final course tasted like Coles chops off the gas barbie, slick with grease and stuck to more fatty bone. It was obnoxiously bad. As soon as I conceded defeat and quit I only felt remorse that I’d eaten as much as I had. Then I felt nauseous. I should give the place at least two stars. After all, there’s a certain madness in attempting three courses of ribs, and sometimes madness is gonna turn to badness. But this was too bad. It didn’t just make me want to head to one of the great rib places popping up, like Blue Plate in Neutral Bay. It didn’t drive me to thoughts of Tony McRoma’s, or even planting myself on the curb outside a charcoal chicken joint, with a styrofoam box of three sickly ribs, plastic sweetslaw and a cold roast spud. No. It’s an experience that makes me not want to eat ribs whatsoever — let alone go back to Mumu. And that’s just a sin.

MuMu is a classy kind of steakhouse, complete with Scandinavian-style timber table settings and an expansive outdoor area. Attention to detail is apparent, from the stylish tableware to their ethical approach to produce that uses only organic or sustainably harvested ingredients alongside grass-fed beef. The food has a bit of a Spanish slant to it, with a selection of tapas-like small plates, as well as a dedicated jamon bar. I went along for dinner, and while the steak was cooked well and very tasty, I felt the cost of small plates and sides was over the top considering the size. I realise authentic Spanish ham is expensive, but a very small plate of jamon serrano(not even the coveted iberico) came in at about $ 15, while a skinny slice of manchego was priced similarly high. I like the concept of this restaurant, but the price was a downside to an otherwise good experience.

Exceptional service. That’s the first thing I need to get out. It’s the kind of place, though casual and a little artsy, where you walk in and feel like your every wish will be granted. Requests are granted almost immediately and staff are warm and engaging. I like that the tables inside are set immaculately with large red wine glasses(a touch of a la carte) but wait — this is a steak house. Outside the pot plant wall keeps the courtyard cosy and blocks out nearby traffic whilst the picnic benches give you a pub garden type feel. Inside again and we have a tall table and wooden bar with comfy bar stools and INXS’s Beautiful Girl and then The Waif’s London playing. But MuMu is really all about the meat… isn’t it? Well yes it is and might tasty it is. Self-proclaimed Sydney’s only sustainable steak house with it’s «bloody good steak» their beef is 100% grass fed. Menu highlights include Kimel Aged Sirloin($ 39.90), 18 month Jamon Serrano $ 16.90 and the Gundooee Organic Wagyu Sausage on Cauliflower Mash with Corn and Cumquat Relish($ 22). Go — it’s worth it.
