Rusticly delectable bakehouse, the stuff is made properly! Yes you heard, none or that oily cruddy pastry from the local bakery, this shiz is real! Butter puff pastry… it was love at first sight! Ze almond croissants are good, but could do with a stronger marzipan flavour or almond oil to give it a bit more pazazzz. The sausage rolls though… blew my socks off

Really love the food and coffee here. Come early for the savoury pies as they sometimes run out in the afternoons. Great range of pies and sausage rolls, all delicious and ranging between $ 5 and $ 7. Dessert pastries are also really yummy. Coffee is good, they make each cup with love so might take a while.

Yummy. As far as bakeries go, red door is paired back, basic, limited. But… somehow they still have breads, plenty of breakfast and lunch choices, coffee and sweets. And the bottom line… everything they have incl. Their coffee is top notch, delicious, and way better than ‘regular’ bakeries. Greats smells, atmosphere, go treat yourself. It poopoos all over nearby Crispy Cremes.

It’s been a while since I’ve visited red door bakery, as being from the hills it’s on the other side of town and not convenient by any stretch. However, on Saturday I was in the area so I took a bit of a detour and popped in at about 8:30am for a quick takeaway coffee and pastry. All I can say is that red door are still pumping out quality. This place is even better than last time I visited, and have a new roomier layout. The staff at Red Door make amazing sausage rolls, pies and probably everything else. I grabbed a pork and sage sausage roll and a flat white on the run, but wished as I left that I had bought more. One of the staff members there informed me that they are opening a red door in the CBD soon. I think she said Grenfell St. I just hope they open one near my work or in the hills somewhere. If not, Queen St at Croydon is a cool little nook of Adelaide that I’ll be back to sooner rather than later.

I am sad that I do not live near here anymore to savour the delectable baked goods at this fine bakery. If you want fresh, from scratch baked goods then this is the place for you. Yes it’s hipster and trendy but frankly, little ol Radelaide needs more bakeries like this. I now live way down south and sadly can only find stock standard mediocre bakeries that do not have me salivating as much as I did when I walked through the doors of this fine bakery. The staff are always pleasant and friendly here and the coffee is smooth. The politically correct ginger bread people are always a hit with my rugrats.

Just when I didn’t think I could fit any more in after having breakfast at The Croydon Store, the bakery beckoned me with the buttery pastry aroma! Next thing I knew, here I am going up to the counter ordering a crème brûlée tart and the passionfruit meringue pie to share(kind of wish I didn’t now!). To help wash down my chai latte of course. Wait, what? you say? that’s not right. Should’ve been the other way around, but that isn’t how it played out. At first we wanted a latte, but we decided on a chai one instead. I know right? I went against our usual order! Blasphemy! The chai part was great, the sweetness of it wasn’t. So what better way to get rid of the sweet taste? order something sweet… I’ve had dreams about their crème brûlée tarts. Honest!!! They’ve haunted me because I have been wanting one for soooooo long but every time I have been I talk myself out of it or they don’t have any when I am at my weakest and most vulnerable for one. Today? SCORE!!! I swear I heard angel’s singing as the top cracked open. That«Ahhhhhhhh» heavenly sound, you know what I am talking about, right? It had the perfect burnt toffee flavour, that just balanced the sweetness and creaminess of the tart. The filling with it’s little bursts of vanilla bean, I wanted more, so much more! For my birthday, I request a massive crème brûlée tart from Red Door Bakery. Not sure what the rest of my party guests are having, it’d be all mine! But then that Passionfruit Meringue Pie, whyyyy?! just when I thought my tastebuds could handle no more. The zesty sour punch of passionfruit with the slight sweetness of the meringue with that perfect thin pastry underneath. Wow. Just wow. Still nothing can compare to the amazing-ness of that brulee. Both weren’t as sweet as I thought they’d be. They were perfect. I would marry the brulee if it were a real person! Yup, there are going to be dirty dreams of food tonight…

At 1 pm Saturday, I can’t believe there’s crème brûlée tart left! The crunch n the perfect tart, just what I needed. The pastry is short n filling just correct sweetness for me. Coffee came pretty straight away, can’t complain, as good as ever Great place to relax with the weekend paper. There are seatings on the side road, but the cool air inside is preferred today

Sadly unimpressed! I tried the Angus pie I found the filing dry although packed full of beef. I was looking forward to the pastry after reading all the reviews and again I was unimpressed… pie base was soft and the puff lacked any flackiness. Moving onto sweets! The passionfruit meringue tart was nice. The passionfruit crème in the centre was packed full of mouth watering flavor. The meringue was smooth and creamy but unfortunately the base let the whole tart down. It was over baked and had a slight burnt taste to it. We also picked up one of the seven grain sour dough and I’m glad we did. Definitely the highlight of our trip there. You can taste the freshness and can’t wait to try it as toast in the morning. The service was good although it took a short while to be served. It was lunch time and didn’t help that the customers in front didn’t know what they wanted. The vibe was great there but the food wasn’t good enough to warrant a return trip.

Have lived near to Croydon for a while, but never really ventured across South Road to explore the Queen St area that had been raved about. I don’t know why it took me so long! Came to Red Door Bakery on a Saturday morning for a coffee and a white choc macadamia brownie. There was a constant stream of people in and out the door, whether it be to have their morning coffee hit or purchase bread goods. When we first arrived all tables were taken but we managed to nab one just before ordering. My partner said the coffee was really really good– and for him to say that, well it must mean it’s good! The brownie was delicious and hit the spot. By all accounts, it sounds like trying the pies is a necessity so I’ll be back for lunch here very soon.

I can’t even tell you how often I think about these pies. The most buttery and flakey pastry our there; and I’m a baker so, like, I know! Today I had the chicken, chorizo and white bean pie. Ahmayzing! I love that they’re fillings are thick and chunky… You can see the ingredients. Maybe they err on the side of dry if I’m honest, but they are delicious. Can someone try the gingerbread for me, I’m not sure I can take another addiction. Downside is that they cause myself and every surface around me to gain a smattering of pie flakes. So that’s flakes that don’t go in my mouth. Sad times.

Tucked away on a side street off of Port Road is the Red Door Bakery(along with a couple of other food and retro clothing stores) This bakery is an epicurean delight. Only making a small selection of gourmet baked goods each day, they vary the menu, especially of the hot pastries often. depending on availability. This time around I tasted the Chicken, Potato and Tarragon Pie — this was packed full of the tasty filling, moist but not full of any sloppy sauces. YUMM. Tasty rich flavour all perfectly balanced in a light flaky pastry. The Pork and Sage Sausage Roll. OHMY so tasty. Filled with a glorious blend of meat and spices and cocooned in crumbly Puff Pastry a delight to the mouth for sure. Then there’s the range of sweet pastries that I daren’t try!!! So if you are in need for a nice lunch, morning or afternoon tea(not open every day) and you aren’t far from the city, it is well worth the trip

Outstanding food! Sort of gourmet home style if I can describe it that way. Not as large a selection as some bakeries but everything I’ve tried so far, through half a dozen visits, has been a bit«different» and perfect.

Is it just a yummy little place for a coffee and a bun or whatever you call these danish pastries? No. It is a place that takes pride in the process and the produce; it’s not the best bakery in South Australia, that’s in Port Elliot, by popular public vote. This could well be the best bakery in the metropolitan area on this side of town. But think a moment, it doesn’t have to be the best; it is true to itself, authentic. It is a bakery that serves things outside the normal routine so it is more like a restaurant but it’s just a little bakery. If you want to take the stuff home and dress it up there’s nothing stopping you from doing so. Make a pie floater or add some veggies to a pie or roll and make a whole meal. But seriously, the stuff is so yummy why take it home. Eat it here where it is as fresh as it could be just off the cooling rack. I think they have a nice attitude even if the whole overall feel of these shops along here is a bit elite, it has some great aspects as well. Yummy aspects. There are plenty of reviews of this little bakery — it is worth a visit in my opinion and I bet I’m not the only one saying that, but you get along and make up your own mind. Then you can post your own review and offer your own opinion. I’m sure you’ll find a favourite thing on their list of things to eat. Personally I like the danish — melt in your mouth? You bet ya!

I’m know for consuming ungodly amounts of bread some days. Trust me those days you don’t want to be around. Red door is full of carbs, literally. And I love it. The bread is soft and fluffy, and the Olive Oil loaf is the epitome of deliciousness in bread form. Staff are very helpful and polite. Fresh bread, fresh feelings.

This bakery lends out a feel where you almost come close to a fresh produce setting. With an open bakery, you actually see how your pies or pastries are made before they hit your plate. The staff are friendly and helpful. The array of tarts here are absolutely divine and delicious to the core! If you haven’t already, you absolutely have to try the Belgium Chocolate & Hazelnut Tart. Rich in smooth creamy chocolate over a bed of crushed hazelnuts, words cannot describe this instant love affair you encounter with the first bite. I’m coming back for more. Make loaves. Not war… reads their tagline on their website. It truly resonates with their baking goodness.

Like Brad, I was fully prepared to diss Red Door because of all the hipsters hyping on about it. I lined up behind a bank of attractive young couples wearing organically made clothes with beautiful babes sleeping in slings on their chests like baby kangaroos. I ordered a chicken and tarragon pie from the exuberant sever, and sat sceptically in the corner. And had MYMINDBLOWN. What a pie, man! Juicy, fresh, and flavoursome, the tarragon really made this pie special. After eating, instead of feeling full and slovenly as one normally does after devouring a pie, I actually felt refreshed! Amazing! The little bakery has a lively, intimate atmosphere with a very perky server. I was also impressed by the way the pastry chef helped out, and chatted to customers. Love friendly chefs! Believe the hype, this is one of the best bakeries in Adelaide, for sure.

At first sight, I thought that this place was a little bit pretentious. Bakeries that offer the stuff that this place offers sometimes come off as being a hangout for wankers and try-hard idiots with too much money, and I’m sure this place has plenty from that demographic, but I reckon the Red Door Bakery gets away with it just because what they offer is sooooooo good. Starting out with the sour dough(which is the safest bet on their menu — at some places, that’s the riskiest choice), I was very impressed. They obviously use a decent starter for the dough. The pastries looked delicious. I ended up having a croissant(which I’m told is hand rolled, not a frozen buy-in like other bakeries I know) and a chocolate and hazelnut tart. I really recommend this place. It’s the real deal.

Arguably the best bakery in Adelaide. I went in here by accident, it was only after when I was reading some other reviews that I realised how popular this little gem is. This is not your traditional bakery. Sure, they sell all your usual bakery fare such as pies, cakes, and sausage rolls, but they also go outside the box with different and unique flavours for their products. I love their Moroccan lamb sausage roll, with a dab of chilli jam. Oh my. I never thought a sausage roll could taste so good. Everything here is done right. Pastry flakey and crisp. Food fresh and made daily.
