History

Established in 2005.

The Beauchamp is located in a 120 year old building that has been restored with all it’s original traditional pub tiles and huge half moon shaped glass windows with their original coloured glass inserts, intact. The old architectural features of the building are complemented new wide spotted gum bar tops and a timber veneered central staircase that links the upper and lower levels. The hotel was named after Lord Beauchamp, an early NSW governor, and has been trading since the early 20th century.

Claude B.

Business Owner

Claude is originally from Switzerland, moved to Australia in the mid sixties and went back to study at the Lausanne Hotel management School in the 70’s before embarking on a career in hospitality in Australia. One of Claude’s 1st gigs in Sydney was the well known Cyrano’s restaurant which was headed by the Swiss Chef Rolf Widmer, who introduced what was known as Nouvelle Cuisine to Sydney in the 70’s. Claude opened his 1st business in Australia at the Palace Hotel in Darlinghurst with Chef Brian Sudek, who was known for his cooking at the Clareville Kiosk and Bather’s pavilion in the late 80’s and early nineties. After 14 years at The Palace, claude refurbished and reopened The Beauchamp which has been a popular watering hole for 10 years now.
