Botos is one of the coolest shops in Darlinghurst, it is like something, which has fallen out of Hong Kong or Japan and landed in the middle of Sydney. I Lobe this sense of style it is like Astro– Boy chic if everyone was dressed like this it would be like walking around in the middle of Blade Runner. They sell funky modern fashion like the Steam Punk flip sunglasses, which look like Mickey Mouse ears that Lady Gaga wears. And they have a great range of fashion from the future. Their collection of shoes is particularly cool. I love the giant plastic robot teddies. I am not sure how well they would do as I would think their business would be more suited to the Surry Hills or Newtown crowd than that of Oxford Street, but I certainly like it. I hope they survive.

My golly this is one trendy little shop! The first thing I had to get my head around when I stepped inside were the prices! I know I sound like a commercial right now but seriously, Botos is in the heart of the shopping district which is not known for its humble prices. I usually aim Oxford street aimlessly, dreaming of a day I would be able to afford a dress and still have money for dinner. Well, ladies and gents, here is the place. All the stuff is imported from Japan and Hong Kong, fashion capitols of the world. I asked the owner how she manages to keep the prices so low in such an area, especially considering it’s all imported. Her reasoning was that Darlinghurst and Paddington are areas where a lot of young people like to hang out. There is the College of Fine Arts and few minutes away and another art school across the street. So there are trendy students looking for a bargain after class, and they needn’t look far. If you’re in search of unique styles, great dresses, pants, jackets and accessories but you are on a ‘normal person’ pay check, this place will fit you just fine. It’s so refreshing finding an affordable store on Oxford street, I can’t go inside without buying something. But I don’t have to feel guilty, a gorgeous pair of earrings cost around $ 15 and they have lots of cute sunglasses with UV400 protection in a similar price range. The clothes have the quirky style of Japan, but for anybody who has been to Japan you’ll know it is even more rare to find something affordable there! The concept of this store is great and I recommend it to anybody looking to spice up their wardrobe and still have enough cash left over for a drink at one the many stylus bars near-by.
