Awesome upstairs garden bar. Like the chilled out vibe. Great music… vinyl all the way baby!

Give me cheap beer and comfy mismatched couches and I will pledge you my allegiance for all eternity. Throw in a Streetfighter 2 arcade machine from the mid-‘90s and I will bark like a dog if you want me to. This place just rules, there’s a happy hour, the bartenders are supes friendly, you can schlep with your mates in the downstairs lounge room red room or head upstairs to the more urbane terracey deck bar thing with it’s smoking lounge and giant skylight beneath the stars. Make mine Darlo.

My new local. I’m already a fan and I like it more with each visit. Pretty relaxed and casual spot. I like grabbing a seat upstairs outdoors. Darlo doesn’t have a kitchen, but rather lets your order takeout from a few of the neighbouring places. We had pizza, nachos, and chicken skewers and chips all in one sitting. You can also get a burger from Burger Joint, right across the road. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Bonus: They have Dirty Granny cider on tap. Something different to keep the cider fans entertained.

Huzzah! for the Darlo Bar! The Chainsaw massacre quiz is too hard, those two older fellas are sharks on the pool table(one day lads… one day), they’ve got a wicked eclectic collection of furniture downstairs and really cool garden furniture and comfy sofas upstairs, even a classic gaming table featuring the likes of Pac Man and other retro delights! Not always great if you have a group as it is popular and gets quite packed on Friday and Saturday nights, pop along on a Sunday totally different vibe.

Darlo Bar is the much loved local haunt on Darlinghurst Rd. Wine bars may come and go and the cool seekers may move from bar to bar but darlo will always remain a popular favourite for a drink. This eclectic bar is filled with retro furniture and Sydney’s trendiest flock here to nab a spot for a drink. There’s always great tunes and happy clientele, although the staff can sometimes be a little terse and the bar can be slow moving. A great spot to have a few drinks before moving on to dinner at any of Darlinghurst’s excellent restaurants or stay here and order some takeout via the bar.

I like the Darlo Bar on Darlinghurst road in Darlinghurst(conveniently enough). It’s one of those places where the patronage is quite eclectic as is the furniture inside. There’s old couches, tables and chairs that look like they’ve been picked up from the council clean up but it suits the place just fine. You can try grabbing a table outside on the foot path although that seems to be hot property but a nice place if you like pets as there always seems to be at least one dog on a leash just patiently waiting for it’s owner. There’s a bottle shop to grab some roadies if you don’t have time to stick around but if you do, it’s definitely worth dropping in and enjoying a drink at The Darlo Bar.

When I was living in Potts Point, the Darlo Bar became my beloved local. Nevermind the fact that I had to walk past a million other pubs and through Kings Cross to get there, I still regarded it as my failsafe go-to. Both down and upstairs bars are perfect for laidback drinks with mates, though large groups might have to get feisty to nab a table. The furniture is an eclectic mix of nice old pieces, with the kind of couches you can sink into on a long night.(In fact, one of my friends took a spontaneous«nap» on one once…) They’ve gotten clever with the food offerings and you can choose from a bunch of different takeaway joints around the traps(burgers, Thai, etc), meaning that everyone in your group is kept happy. The Texas Chainsaw trivia each Wednesday night at 8pm is hilarious and led by Jay Katz, Miss Death and Coffin Ed of The Naked City. Forget the irritating, brain-frying questions you get smacked with at other pubs, here it’s all current affairs and popular culture quizzes that are just good fun. Plus the prizes are usually bar tabs — win-win!

Incredibly homely Darlo Bar has that extended lounge room feel to it, probably to cater for all the travellers bunking up in the area. There are 2 storeys and an upstairs beer garden which does get a bit pokey. There are a couple of bars but the main one downstairs is definitely the best equipped. I got stuck into a few Drambuies here so yes the top shelf got some dusting in my stay. However the tap beer also flows quite well. I was on a blind date and although the relationship didn’t take off the night went on for hours.

Darlo bar(as it is known to pretty much everyone) is a tale of 2 bars. Downstairs you have the mix-match retro-chic look, complete with old-school arcade games. Upstairs, you’ll find the outdoor patio area — complete with wrought-iron garden furniture — with walls so high, it almost feels indoors(except when it rains). It can get very busy in the evenings, especially Friday and Saturday, so if you want a seat, you better get there early! Both bars over a good variety of drinks, ranging from local boutique beers to a variety of wines and cocktails, so all bases are covered in that respect. Although there is no kitchen, food is on offer from a number of local outlets(order at the bar), with a minor surcharge for delivery. They also nightly specials and events, so check out the website and see what’s on when you’re heading down!
