This little hidden gem is out of the way in Deception Bay, just across the road from the water & opposite the local library. Family run, the food is generously sized and tasty. I loved the atmosphere, the wooden tables in the sun and friendly service. Don’t go expecting anything fancy, it’s good reliable food plus a takeaway for those wanting to eat right by the waterfront. Between the 7 of us, we had fish & chips, toasted sandwhiches and a burger. All which were good well cooked meals. The eggs benedict as part of their all day breakfast menu looked like the pick of the bunch for me. The coffee was good, served one at a time which I found slightly amusing, but didn’t really mind because it suited the style & vibe of the café. From all accounts from our dining companions the live music on a Sunday arvo is worth a visit. If you’re looking for something in the area, I don’t think you’d be dissappointed checking out Mermaids for a bite to eat.
