What more could you want then good food and great music?!? Food here was tasty and a large serving! I had the lamb shoulder and the meat melted in my mouth… Oh yeah! You can’t beat that!

Lizottes is a dinner and show venue in Dee Why that I had no idea existed. Clare Bowditch performed here with Lanie Lane a little while ago and we thought we’d give it a try. A live show venue on the North Shore — unheard of! The website didn’t appear to have any dining for two left but I called the venue and they were able to accommodate us. Hurrah! Excited.
I got 2 calls from the management in the day leading up to gig to ask what time we planned to arrive for dinner. Apparently the act didn’t want to have dinner being served whilst they performed (fair enough) but given we had a babysitter to consider it wasn’t possible for us to get there any earlier, though I did feel a bit pressured. Anyway, frocked up we set off not knowing what to expect.
The venue is intimate, grown-​up and shabby glam. We were shown to our table and discovered we were sharing our date night with a middle-​aged couple from Newport. They were sweet but we would’ve preferred to have left our babysitter at home.
Now to the good stuff. The food was sensational. We had a little wait for it but it was surprisingly good. We expected decent pub food but this was nearly fine dining.
The venue was utterly perfect for the inclusive performance style of Ms Bowditch and we were transported. It’s notable when the venue is part of the overall experience of watching a band and this place really elevated the whole night. We’ll definitely go back.

Nothing much exciting happens in Dee Why (although there was a shooting last year), Dee Why is mainly a place to live of convenience, as it is easily accessible to both the Northern Beaches and the city.
However that has changed now that Lizotte’s has arrived. Lizottes provides live concerts from a wide range of performers, most of them are not to my taste, but some of the acts performing there are really impressive. Kate Miller Heidke Played there and I went to see Seeker Lover Keeper there, which is the group featuring Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby. For three of Australia’s most popular and highly regarded singers to be on stage together in Dee Why is definitely a coup.
LIzotte’s provides the option to just buy a concert ticket or to have dinner with the show. It is pricy to go for the later, but worth it as they are providing one of the finest dining experiences in the area. I had the rack of lamb in red wine and a roast vegetable tart and for dessert an amazing Austrian chocolate tart. They get all your senses going at once.
