I know that many folks LOVE the lamb ribs at Charcoal Chicken, but for me it’s all about the spicy Portuguese chicken. This really is sensational and I don’t know of any other fast food outlet that produces such delicious chicken. The serves are so generous here that my son and I generally get half a chicken and chips and it’s plenty enough for 2 of us. The chips are always crisp and fresh and they don’t scrimp on quantities. No matter what day of the week you come, it’s always busy. On the weekend, be prepared to wait 30 minutes. There’s a constant stream of chooks coming off the rotisseries, and they’re no sooner cut up and placed in the bain maries, than they’re boxed or bagged up and out the door. These guys work like Trojans! AB and his girlfriend love the potato bake and biryani rice, and generally order a container of half and half. This is another of the brilliant things about CC — you can mix and max pretty much everything, including the range of salads. AB also loves the chip dip to dunk his chips in, although I’m happy with good old ketchup. If you have a hearty appetite, you won’t leave hungry. The plates for dine-in folks are piled high with food, and I’ve seen families bring their own takeaway containers so they can take their leftovers home after they’ve finished eating. The staff are always friendly, and sometimes I wonder how they can still smile when they’re working near rotisseries as hot as Hades in summer. I hear from others in the queue that they travel miles to come, and why wouldn’t they? Forget your Red Rooster and Nandos — nobody does chicken like these guys do. Once you’ve eaten here, you won’t be able to revert to Red Rooster ever again.

I live in the hills… This place is MILES away from where I live… But the lamb rack of ribs are quite simply AMAZING! Every 3 months I make the trek to get 10 racks of lamb, 2 jumbo birrianni rice, 2 jumbo creamy potato bake, 2 jumbo Greek salads and take them home to the family. We plow through them until there is not a single bit left. I love it! Have to say I haven’t tasted ribs like these anywhere. They are sticky and sweet and BBQ charred and juicy. The potatoes are creamy and moorish and the rice is epic. The salad is ordered purely to make me feel healthy! It’s $ 280 well spent! :) AAA +++ WILLALWAYSBEBACK!

I have recently moved to Perth and I now live in Dianella. Every day I walk past charcoal chicken and the smell is awesome, there’s always smoke coming out of the roof and it smells really really really good! Today for the first time I decided to go there for lunch, wow I cannot believe I have been missing out on this place!!! I got a chicken kebab and creamy baked potato, WOW!!! I swear it was the best kebab I have ever had and trust me I’ve had a few kebabs in my days! The baked potatoes was excellent as well I am definitely going to be a regular hear from now on. And the service was great they were really really busy but they still served me with a smile!

These guys have great fatty racks of ribs. I reckon better than tony romas. Whenever the girlfriend is out for the night, I duck out and get me some manly, fatty, bbq ribs. Tonight there’s a huge queue. So they must be good. Cheap and tasty.

My local Charcoal Chicken is the best I’ve had. This place cranks out one bird after the next accompanied by a ghastly amount of fries, appropriately dressed in chicken salt. Despite the throngs of crowds the staff is always friendly and their service is seriously efficient. They’ve even got a little outdoor seating if you’re keen to sit outside.

I love charcoal chicken! It’s flavoursome, good quality, generous in portion size and has a great selection of salads! The Dianella one gets very busy, it’s also halal if that’s you’re thing. You can dine in or take-away. We usually take away as it’s not the greatest place to sit and eat but man it’s so good! The chicken comes in normal or Portuguese style, the latter is actually quite spicy. The salads are really fresh there’s beautiful rice salads, pasta salads, potato salads, chicken and avocado salad etc. If you want to be semi-healthy then my tip is the slimmers pack, it’s about $ 12.95 and you get a quarter of chicken and 3 salads to choose from. Usually during the day the salad selection is a little limiting however at night they seem to have more/better options! Try it! You might even like it better than nandos!

Nice drive down grand prom and ended up checking out Charcoal Chicken just near the Dianella Plaza. There used to be a Charcoal Chicken in Inglewood but it’s not there anymore, shame. Anyways I had a half chicken and chips, it was only about $ 13? A whole chicken of chips was about $ 18. Nice serving of tasty chips and nice spicy chicken. It was definitely nice and hot, just as good as Nandos in my opinion! EDIT: Ribs are to die for too! I’m addicted to this place now.

The lamb ribs from this restaurant are absolutely delicious. This is one of the best value restaurants in Perth. The staff are very polite and always friendly. It has become very popular with many different nationalities and sometimes you have to even have wait for a table. The only problem I have experienced with this restaurant was when I took some friends there to enjoy a meal, they were closed. There was a sign on the door stating that they will be closed from the 20th until the 24th of January 2014. As I was standing there in disappointment I noticed dozens of hungry customers arriving to enjoy meal. Some were standing around in disbelief. I talked to a group of men who were standing there and grey said they drove over 50 minutes to get there. I’m not sure of the reason this restaurant closed but when they serve food this good they should implement a contingency plan to feed their loyal, hungry customers. Even after this disappointment I will still return. I will just ring and check they are open beforehand.

On my way home late from training I needed to get something to eat that was gonna give me the post-training protein I needed. And where better to get it than from Charcoal Chicken. Not for the chicken(although it IS really good) but for the ribs. OMG — the ribs. They are so friggen GOOD! You have to try them. Actually no. Don’t you’ll end up liking them so much and there won’t be any for me. Which — as funny as it may sound — actually happens. I’ve been to Charcoal Chicken before(around 7:30 on a Sunday night) and they’ve run out of chickens or ribs. So my advice is to get in early if you want to make sure you get what you want for dinner. Understandably though, the food is really good so when people buy a LOT of stuff… it’s cos it’s really good. The servings are very generous and a half rack of the ribs is dinner for me for two nights(which is hella awesome) so order accordingly. You’ve been warned! :p The place does have a dine-in option if you wanted to eat out but given that it’s definitely a place for the locals, most people go for the take away option. If you’ve not given this place a try, you need to give it a go and at the very least TRYTHERIBS!

This place isn’t much to look at, but it’s well worth walking in. I love their Portuguese chicken, and the cream potatoes are divine, they’re my favorite. The standout item on the menu is their ribs — they are AMAZING. If you don’t like lamb or fatty treats, this will not be your cup of tea, but if you want some seriously messy BBQ bliss, make sure you call ahead and reserve a rack, because if you show up after about 6:30−7pm, you’ll probably be disappointed — they sell out in a flash at dinner time. They also have consistently great chips(an increasingly unusual thing among takeaways), and the lebanese dessert treats are the perfect end to a meal. The prices are very reasonable, you can get enough food to stuff a normal person and two big dudes for less than $ 40, and while the ambience isn’t fine dining, it’s a nice relaxed place to take little kids to eat out on the cheap. It’s probably not the ideal place if you’re catering to vegetarians or healthy eaters — they do have some salads and lighter options, but it is very carnivore-oriented. :P The next time you’re in the market for takeout and want something other than burgers, check it out — you won’t regret it.

You get the best chips here, it takes all my will power to not stop for chips when I am walking past. I usually get a curry from Dodos next door and a big family chips from here and ta da instant family meal. They do salads, snitzels, ribs, seafood and off course chicken. I haven’t tried the ribs yet however they are pretty damn popular, make sure you have someone to share with as they look huge. I must admit that every time I go to order something out of the ordinary I throw caution to the wind and just get the chicken and chips. Next time I think I will order with my eyes closed, as the food just doesn’t look appetizing beyond the counter glass. The salads seem a little warped and the potato dishes look like they have been sitting there all day. But as they say don’t judge a book by its cover. The place smells fantastic though.
