Review based on Friday night drinks only — they have drinks specials which gets the local offices in. On a beautiful docklands night — sit outside and enjoy the outdoor area.

This is ‘gastro pub’ food apparently.
Freezer burnt fries, cold over cooked meat, a sad piece of lettuce, a slice of tomato on a nondescript bun. Never have I been so non-​plussed with a steak sandwich. Very disappointing experience all round.

I was in a rush to get a lunch bite after a Docklands meeting, and picked Watermark just because it was the first thing I saw. I’m not sure if I’d like the dining so much if the outer bar had been in full flow, but it was fine at lunch as it was empty.
It’s quite an elegant dining room, with good service. The quality of my food was quite high. The portion size was *massive* though. You certainly get a big pile of food for your money.
The by-​the-​glass wine list was a bit short for this sort of place, I thought.

I feel a bit sad for Watermark. It reminds me of that kid in school who was super cool and popular but then got to high school and no one cared anymore.
Watermark has had a troubled few years as it excelled as a nightclub. It has now stepped down a notch and is focusing purely on being a casual bar/​restaurant and a delightful spot for functions. They have some amazing function packages available and can cater for 21sts, weddings, hens party and everything in between.
The floor to ceiling windows ensure a great view of the water no matter where you are sitting and from what I last heard since being there they have live jazz every day. A lovely touch!
The food is ‘Modern Australian’ at best — parmas (I had one and couldn’t finish it… So BIG!), steaks and a variety of seafood dishes. They also do cheap lunch specials every now and then so check it out if you are nearby.
