When you venture to Double Bay it is always fun to seek out an ‘institution’. The Twenty One is certainly a real institution and has been trading for over 50 years… it is now in the hands of the third generation. The menu is so like it’s earlier days. It is an exceptional statement for delivering quality which makes for a successful and sustainable restaurant. It is formulated on European dishes with an emphasise on Hungarian and Jewish stews dishes… my favourite amongst the mains is definitely the Schnitzel. And the deserts are pretty good too… the crepes are the standout. This place is always worthy of a visit when you are in the neighbourhood.

My favourite schnitzel in Sydney! An old school family restaurant. It’s like mumma’s cooking without the mess. The sides are great old school Hungarian delicacies that we all love and have grown up. Love how the owner gives the kids a lolly pop before leaving!

Great hearty home cooked European Meals. I probably brought the average age down to 65.(It is a place frequented by my grandparents and their friends). But seriously you can’t go wrong with a matzah ball soup, glass of red and a Roast duck with red cabbage and spinach. MMMmmmm. Got to love an old fashioned restaurant with free bread! And an old classy style to it. Always busy, a have for the oldies so good to come either REALLY early, or late…(when they are all back home in bed).
