Say something nice challenge: it has electricity. Okay, so why does a dusty version of the Bonds top which I purchased on special from regular DJ retail for 60% more at their outlet? The dusty, expensive top was the only thing in the whole store worth buying. Whoever is responsible for pricing the crap here needs to put the crack pipe down. I occasionally but finer clothes at DJs yet the dated, ugly nonsense humectants products cost as much and more than my Veronika Maine skirt. FAIL.

I used to work for David Jones, and I do like a good bargain. Classic fashion, fashion hiccups and the hell-spawn of satanic fuck-ups by the(usually) accomplished David Jones buyers always end up here. Occasionally you get to see some really awesome«my-god-what-was-the-buyer-thinking» moments of an entire wardrobe of the same style out on display, but in general, you find great great great bargains on really great fashion, gifts, homewares and small electricals. Like the voyager jacket I wear everywhere that was normally $ 395 reduced down to $ 70, and the Milano(that’s DJs own brand) of shoes that were normally $ 200 down to $ 59. And the countless other great bits of classic fashion I’ve bought. It’s a pity it just isn’t a bit bigger. But there’s nothing wrong with this place, and I like it.

This David Jones is like no other. It’s pretty badly organised, with not enough staff to keep the rummage piles in order, and because of the sheer size of the range that David Jones carries, it’s difficult to organise it. But if you are just browsing it’s a great place because there are clothes, shoes, electrical, homewares and more under one roof. I bought a good quality brand name iron here for half the price I would have paid if I shopped in the department store. So this time I got a good David Jones quality iron instead of a dodgy K-mart quality iron for a similar price. Queues are often long, so be prepared to stand and wait — it’s not a run in and run out kind of experience.
