Five stars on a voucher! The food and service was excellent. We had dinner early on a Tuesday night and this could account for such a pleasant experience. As we left more people arrived for meals and take aways. You will read elsewhere that the place is in the middle of nowhere but if you live in the Hills district it is not that much of a drive. It is near the turnoff to Galston. There is plenty of onsite parking too. There was way too much food on this voucher for two people and it was such a good advertisement for the place. It is not a small restaurant and also has an area sectioned off for a private party. Whilst there appears to have always been an Indian restaurant here the current owners have been here for less than a year. I think I will have to come back on a Saturday night when they have their entertainment.

Really nice cuisine, lovely décor and charm. Well dressed up joint, lovely staff. Portions are a bit on the small side(around a cup or so of curry per dish in a copper bowl) but the manager was happy to offer a free refill when asked.

Man, I wish I could just bottle up the experience I had at Mother India and post that feeling to Unilocal, because this place was awesome. We booked for around 8 on a Saturday night and when traffic was bad they were very cool about letting us push the booking back. When we arrived, there were a few other fairly large parties and a DJ/musician/entertainer going in front of a dance floor with a disco ball, all set it what otherwise appeared to be like any other Indian restaurant. It was awesome. We were seated and the wait staff was very friendly and for some reason super interested in the fact that I’m American. They got our bottle of wine quickly(they had a good selections of regional and international bottles and the prices weren’t bad, all things considered) and we ordered shortly after that. I had a vegetarian potato dish, and the menu is really explanatory and the staff can help you in getting the right amounts of rice, bread, etc. for the table. My food was DELICIOUS, as was everyone else’s at our table. Rich flavors, just all around great food. Since the DJ/musician/entertainer had also found out I am American, he started singing country music/Bruce Springsteen, which apparently really got the table around me going, because shortly after our food was delivered the dance floor was packed with awkwardly dancing middle aged people, jamming out to the oldies. Dinner and a show!

It’s a long way, but totally worth it. Delicious authentic Indian, albeit in the middle of nowhere!

All on its on way up Old Norther Road, you would think Mother India would be quiet. Not so, you have to book a couple of weeks in advance to get in on a Saturday night. Fantastic food now that it has new owners again and on Saturday night they have entertainment by way of an Indian crooner who is seriously funny though he doesn’t intend to be. Unusual dishes and very nice staff, it’s a lovely drive all the way to Mid-Dural to the restaurant. Needs a bit of paint outside and a couple of things need fixing in the inside but the new owners are keen to get the business back to where it was. Shouldn’t take them too long.
