Love this place. Nice staff, great drinks, lovely décor and atmosphere. And the food is excellent value. I nearly always get the chefs menu. Sometimes one dish is not really to my liking, but it’s always interesting. They are very happy to accommodate allergies and dislikes when deciding what to serve you on the chefs menu.
Update — just been here again recently with new upstairs level. More seating! Expanded staff are still delightful, and there’s an incredible peach dessert on the menu just now.
I would say that the chefs menu was a little too much food this time. But usually it’s perfect.

The first time we went to Russo & Russo was a special treat for my birthday. Cathee had asked a friend who’s a major restaurant buff for a recommendation. Man, are we glad she pointed us here?!
The unassuming façade belied the packed, buzzy interior that hit us like a wave as we entered.
From there, it only got better!
The tasting menu was to DIE for (each menu incorporated into a beautiful old Italian book), the service was fun, informative and enthusiastic, and the food itself sublime.
We have revisited several times since then, and love surprising friends by taking them along to discover what we had been raving about all this time.
We absolutely LOVE the place. It’s our favourite Sydney dining experience.

Outstanding imaginative food without the pretension or the attitude. Welcoming vibe and great, really genuine service. Can’t rate it highly enough. Sydneysiders and out of towners put this one on your list. Don’t be scared by some of the unusual combo’s on the menu. The flavours are prefectly balanced and allow the quality of the produce to shine through. Enjoy.

Wonderful service. Intimate room. Great marriage of flavours. Do have the tongue — delicious. We three had a great celebratory birthday dinner. We recommend any dish that has produce from the owner’s father’s garden. Spot the Italian collectibles on the walls and shelves. They even have Italian lessons playing in the toilets.

Outstanding food. We had the 5+courses shared with matching wines. Highlights were the homemade ricotta, smoked eel croquettes, lamb with a melody of greens, risotto to die for and cherries. The food was full of flavour and plentiful.
