There is something incredibly impressive about a woman wearing rockabilly, pin-up inspired outfits. They always look so confident, sexy and like they could beat the hell out of you in a moment’s notice. Although I could never pull off this look entirely, there a few elements I like to grab every now and then, which is why I frequent Devil Kitty. They have rows and racks of men’s and women’s clothes — tutus, corsets and everything in between, but my favourite section is the shoe section… Hooker heels. Yep, you heard me. The heels that are both platform, and high heeled and of an outrageous colour and print. If paired with an appropriate outfit(think jeans instead of mini-skirts) they can look incredible and feel empowering. Devil Kitty is the only place I have come across that sell them at a reasonable price! Look, this place is quite obviously not for everyone and that’s what makes it special.

Two doors down from Victorian Gothic is her sister Devil Kitty. The much younger sibling, clearly suffering from younger child syndrome and feeling the need to break out of the expected mould and rebel has embraced rockabilly, pin-up and rock n’ roll trends with the same enthusiasm my little sister had hopping on the back of her(secret) boyfriend’s motorbike. Stocking from mostly the same suppliers, but with an entirely different range, this is where you would go to find your dress ups for any of the 50s themed nights, or when you feel that you have to(HAVETO) chase after Mikelangelo with his slick Elvis hair. The staff are too kind, patiently waiting as I squeeze into leather skirt after leather skirt, and(in one instance) calling her boyfriend to help me track down something they’d seen yesterday that I was after.
