Absolutely one of my favourite places to dine. I’ve been here quite a few times, and each time I’ve visited it’s been a great experience. They have a great dinner deal of choosing 5 appetisers for a great price, but their pulled pork burger I had was hands down, one of the greatest burgers I’ve ever eaten. My friend who I was sitting across chose the lamb bolognese — which I expected to be incredibly boring, and oh how wrong I was! I have a habit of convincing friends to switch their meals with me half way through our meals purely for some variety, and it was again, one of the greatest pasta meals I’ve eaten — and I’d like to point out that I’ve been to Italy. The meals are hearty, and cooked with love. The staff put in the same amount of love when they’re casually chatting away with you while you wait for your meal, and I feel this is something more restaurants should be doing. They have a way of making you feel at home, and will always keep me coming back. 5 stars.

Ok this is the thing with the Fitz — it’s like that constant buddy who is there for you when you just need a hug and watch a movie you love with ice cream. The service is awesome, menu — although not«Fitzroy hipster» it’s australian solid. Beautiful local wine list and a lovely outdoor spot and a roaring fire so no matter what season you feel at home. Favourite for brunch as well as dinner — we love the Fitz!

Came here with a group and ordered a few tapas plates to share, very sub par. If this is the first item on the menu and what they want to be known for, they definitely need improvement. Also did not feel very welcomed when the waitress snapped at us for ordering the more tapas after the first two miniscule dishes did not satisfy.(Discount available for ordering 5 tapas plates, apparently this does not apply when ordered at different intervals– unsure why??) Waitstaff also forgot many items that were ordered and were unapologetic when we reminded them. Despite ordering an expensive bottle of wine, a few imported beers and food, me and my group of four felt highly unwelcome here. Will not return.

Nice inexpensive restaurant. Service was fantastic, very friendly staff. Good didn’t take too long and it was delicious. Quite reasonable for what we got. We would eat here again!

Great food and friendly staff keep us coming back to Fitz. I can’t vouch for breakfast/lunch time, but in the evening it is a relaxed atmosphere with quick and attentive service. As with most restaurants I go to, I tend to order exclusively off the specials board, and I’ve only ever had happy food experiences at Fitz. Try the unpronounceable hef, marvellous beer, impressive glass.

This place should be my favourite spot in my hood for weekend brunch. It’s very close to me, it’s got a great outdoor area, it has a perfectly non-wanky selection of normal breakfast items, it rarely has a wait, and the price is right. But it falls short of what I look for in a brunch place. The food and coffee is too inconsistent which is the main issue. Poached eggs are perfect one week and then rock hard the next. The baked eggs, same thing. Food sometimes comes out not very warm. The coffee is rarely awesome but sometimes just not that good. The service is oddly gruff at times — and a couple of the staff members who have been long-timers there are simply unfriendly. I still go here pretty regularly to sit outside and have a chat but it’s not on the brunch roster anymore after a year or so of really trying to like it.

I came here for a dinner party a while back and have to say that my experience was pretty mediocre. A large group of us were there for a birthday and we served promptly enough and the food was ok, but the thing is, there was nothing that stood out and said ‘Wow, how amazing is this place’. The venue is quite small inside(there is outside seating also), the food was delivered in large portions and everyone seemed content. There wasn’t much on the menu for the ‘Vegetarian’ option and the price was pretty cheap for the strip. Suffice to say, this was a pretty decent venue with good food but the experience as a whole was alright, probably could have found something better on the strip.

The Fitz is one of my favourite breakfast places in the heart of Brunswick Street. During summer time if you’ve had a big night out it is one of the best places to choose for a ‘hangover breakfast’. It’s got a warm, cosy and relaxed atmosphere inside and a fairly large outside seating area basked in sunshine where you can people watch on Brunswick Street and talk about your adventures on the previous night. The menu is non pretentious and they serve breakfast until late in the day. Their Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine are an inexpensive and hearty option to choose, as is the Fitz Burger. The fact that the Fitz is fully licensed means it’s a good spot to take advantage of the hair of the dog. In short, staff are always friendly, coffee is good, the food is pretty consistent and the atmosphere very inviting for a good time with friends. I’m yet to experience the Fitz for dinner but I’m sure it would be pretty good too.

The Fitz is a quintessentially Australian restaurant. Located on Brunswick Street, it is a good venue for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Since breakfast is served until 4pm, I usually come here for my «breakfast» at 1pm. The portions here are big and moderately priced(average $ 13) compared to many of the cafes that I’m used to. Order a Heavenly Open Sandwich(avocado, tomato, goat’s cheese, and mushroom) with a side of smoked salmon or the Fitz Breakfast(poached eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, and hollandaise) with toast and you’ll be surprisingly full. Their lunch menu is quite standard, but made well with dishes such as calamari, chicken burger, and rib eye. Whilst their coffee is average, a bottle of wine will only cost $ 40. A great place to eat during the summer, the Fitz offers a large outside seating area(for people watching on Brunswick Street) where shade is provided by a large tree. For winter, sit inside and warm up next to the fireplace.
