I would rather wear a muu’muu than anything sporty, outdoorsy or made of technologically advanced fibres so I can’t profess to be a great big Kathmandu fan. That is unless I’m going travelling and Kathmandu, a virtual one-stop-shop for all things travel, is routinely my first port of call. Fortuitously this Kathmandu, at the bargain end of Smith Street, is the brand’s outlet store. And what an outlet store it is. Alongside clothing, accessories and sleeping gear, the Smith Street Outlet store sells a great capsule range of Kathmandu’s backpacks at hugely competitive prices. Being in the market for a pack for an upcoming adventure I dropped into Kathmandu this morning and prices really are ludicrously low. I spotted a huge pack — and excuse my limited outdoorsy vernacular here — which a) seemed to have lots of bells and whistles, b) wasn’t all that ugly, and c) was reduced from $ 600 to $ 200. Sold to the sportswear phobic cheapskate at the back! If you’re going travelling and resent spending a bomb on stuff you’re doubtful you’ll use again, Kathmandu’s Smith Street Outlet Store should definitely figure on your shopping itinerary.
