The Doot offers great pub food, for lunch or for dinner, with specials changed weekly.

If you have a milestone coming up, whether it be a birthday, engagement party, wedding or corporate function, we have spaces that can cater for 20 to 110 guests and take the hassle out of party planning.

Friday and Saturday Nights are Party Nights at The Doot, with DJ’s playing your favourite tunes from 9.30pm. Sunday’s we offer live music in the Party Bar, the perfect way to round out your weekend.

History

Established in 1889.

The «Doot» has been one of Flemington’s favourite pubs for over 100 years. It is also one of the most easily recognised heritage features of Flemington, being both prominent in site and well-​preserved. It was described in 1906 as ‘a splendid specimen of architecture and an ornament to the district’, words which equally apply today.

Located near the Newmarket Stockyards, the Doot provided accommodation, food and drink to weary travelers and locals. Although the rooms are no longer available for rent, locals and visitors still enjoy good meals and drink. For history buffs, there are photos of an earlier (and quieter?) Racecourse Road in the bistro.

Not heaps to say here. Rarely over this side of town, but popped in for a debrief beer with a mate after Soundwave recently and quite dug the place. Bar-​staff were all real friendly, everything seemed pretty laid back and cool. Would pop back in with some regularity if I lived nearby for sure.

I have always been recommended to come here and i finally went out my way to go. I am glad i made that decision. My friends are locals here, so they are treated with much love and respect here.
We attended on Tuesday night for the $ 12 chicken parma and pot nights. We ordered a Parma, Nacho’s and chicken ribs. It was all amazing. Food was quick, service was good and the place looked really nice.
This place has a nice vibe inside, very comfortable, nice seating and well laid out. Drinks are very affordable and thats always a bonus.

The vibe at the Doutta Galla is lively. Unfortunately the bar service can be slow when staff are stretched between the two bars. Large selcetion on tap, the wine list however is a little over priced for the more average drops. Worth a go, if you’re in the hood. The live music is well ahead of your typical pub standard.

The Doutta Galla was sold to me as Flemington’s ‘good’ pub. While it is certainly popular, attracting a young crowd up for a good time, there is nothing particularly great about this venue.
It’s on Racecourse Road right near Newmarket station, so it’s easily accessed by locals and visitors alike. Sitting outside is not the most relaxing experience, with constant traffic, trams and the occasional beggar asking for spare change, although it beats the dark interior.
But the real reason I’m not a fan of the Doutta was the service — I had the chicken burger, and while they were quick to charge me an extra dollar to swap the side of chips for a salad, they forgot to deliver on this and I had to send it back. Also on the wine list, they just had the grape and the brand, which is not very useful if you’re not familiar with the brand, so I had to ask which region the bottles were from. The staff were clueless and had to pull each bottle from the fridge to check. The food was fine, but I get the feeling the Doutta is more about striving to be a nightclub than a local pub.
