Went here with my mum. Was so good we came back again. Love this restaurant! Extremely friendly and prompt service. With iPads to order your food on. Delicious fresh food, served beautifully. Will come by again. Can’t wait!

Feeling like this place might be under rated. Falls outside of the traditional Asian valley strip of China town and yet it feels most authentic out of all of them. I love Asian food and always judge a place by the patrons. If it’s full of native diners they must doing something right? This is my third visit, and as always the place is full Asian diners, the service is ‘welcome to our family restaurant’ atmosphere and the food is sensational. Their latest upgrade is iPad ordering. A novelty picture led menu, with seriously prompt service. The gyoza is their strength and their cocktails are worthy. More visits will be made.

I cannot rave enough about this place. Like another reviewer, Ann Gyoza Bar takes me back to Japan instantly, serving the most authentic izakaya fair in Brisbane, in my opinion. Top picks for me are the okonomiyaki, chicken salad, grilled salmon, karaage, beef kakuni, nasu dengaku, The gyoza are delicious too!!! Their sake ginger is awesome as well. The staff are also super helpful and friendly.

There isn’t much room to stand when ordering takeaway… let’s just call it cozy! For lunch I got some dumplings and they served the purpose — not ‘rock your socks off’ but tasty all the same. I think this place would be great for a sit down lunch in the sun with friends.

The spicy gyoza and chicken karaage are excellent. I typically get the salmon and rice bowl for lunch with miso soup. Everything is delicious! The staff is very nice and helpful. However, you will have to ask them for more soy sauce. Happens every darn time. I think some of my adoration for this spot is nostalgia. This restaurant reminds me of the days I spent training with my sensei, Mr. Miyagi. He was a gentle soul who taught me the meaning of life, helped me defeat my enemies from the Cobra Kai dojo, and score my high school sweetheart. Later we went to Japan, but it wasn’t nearly as entertaining as our first effort.

There’s a lunch box menu where you select from gyoza or other typical item such as chicken karage accompanied by rice and a salad. The speciality of the house being gyoza, I selected the pork version for my lunch box. The meal arrived quickly and I was happy to see that the gyoza were served on their own little cast iron tray. A splash of the traditional gyoza sauce over the sizzling dumplings generated a small cloud of steam. A cute touch and ensured the gyoza stayed warm and juicy through the meal, though hardly an issue in January. Gyoza are made on premises, which puts it head and shoulders above most restaurants who simply bulk buy large bags of frozen dumplings. The flavours and the texture of the dumplings were fresh and light with no stodginess. On this occasion $ 12 for 6 gyoza, salad and rice was a fair value lunch.

My husband and I visit this little place on a regular basis(at least weekly) so I thought it timely to add a review :) The best gyozas in Brisbane. I was unsure on this for a short time given I recently heard of another gyoza bar in the same vicinity(Fortitude Valley), but now having eaten at Harajuku Gyoza I can safely say Ann Street Gyoza Bar surpasses — without a doubt. The spicy gyoza — to die for! If you love chilli, you’ll love these. The pork and chicken are also delicious. The cheese(gyoza) leaves a little to be desired in terms of taste, but it’s OK. I love that they serve them on the black, sizzling ‘plates’. It’s the little things. Their chicken karaage, YUM. I noticed another review on here said no kewpie mayo? We get it every time, so they may have just been out on that particular day/night. It’s a small little place(we always book in advance), and parking can be a pain sometimes(it’s located in the Emporium complex) but overall, we keep coming back. And if you go on a Tuesday, 2 for 1 gyoza! :)

For a Gyoza Bar it is relatively quiet and when the waitresses kneel next to your table to take your order it’s very endearing. No shouting no loud welcome, more a western sit down. We ordered the chicken and spicy pork Gyoza and Unilocal! The spicy pork Gyoza has a real kick. 7 dumplings for $ 9 not bad for emporium prices. We also ordered the agedashi tofu and chicken karaage which came out nice and hot just the way I like it. Very cosy as in you are pretty close together and can subsist on the next tables convo quite clearly if you had nothing to Unilocal about. Check out the cool plywood tables! I got a bit excited as I work in plywood. Not a bad lil joint and nice for a change compared to Harajuku Gyoza.

A friend has been raving about Gyoza Bar Ann to me since last year, insisting I had to check it out next time I was out that way. So there we were. Being located in Emporium, it could be difficult to describe where Gyoza Bar Ann is precisely. If you know where Wagamama and Guzman y Gomez is though, just round the corner behind Guzman y Gomez and you’ll find Gyoza Bar Ann’s large wooden plaque and several alfresco tables. I wasn’t terribly hungry, so the SO ordered a small selection we could share(ie. he ate 90% and I took 10%). My favorite dish was the Ebi-chan, not only for the solid crunch that allowed you to eat the little prawns whole, but presentation-wise, it was just too cute! Gyoza Bar Ann’s gyozas might not be as large as most conventional gyoza joints, but they are the bomb. Served with a splash of sauce done right at your table, these moist babies are the perfect mouthful of succulent porkiness wrapped in a silky and crispy shell. Even the bed of sliced onions on the hot plate soak up the flavour and soften to add another rich texture to the dish. Oh, and the spicy gyoza is actually spicy. Not overly so for the chilli champion, but for those who are chilli lightweights, you will feel a burn.

We ate at Ann Gyoza Bar on a recent weeknight. Out of all of the dumpling bars in Fortitude Valley(there seem to be many), this one is casual and intimate, there are no flashy cocktails or bar or cutesy and colourful Japanese girls/plates here. Yes, I said girls-slash-plates. Parking in Emporium can be a major drag though, so after several laps and almost going home, we finally scored… this can be offputting. Ann Gyoza Bar specialise in gyoza(6 types), as well as numerous other small Izakaya style dishes. We sampled the chicken karaage; great tasty batter, moist chicken, but no kewpie mayo :(, the salmon sashimi; very fresh but few slices, and 3 types of gyoza; spicy, pork and chicken. The gyoza were all delicious and succulent, if not a little oily. We realised later that we totally missed out on the citrussy dipping soy sauce that usually accompanies gyoza which was very unfortunate.(If we head back here, I shall be demanding that sauce!). We liked the gyoza here better than some of the other aforementioned dumpling bars though. Ann Gyoza Bar is definitely a good choice for an intimate drink and a few plates of food with a friend.

Went here last night and ordered the Vegetable and Pork Gyoza. Not only were the Gyoza exceptional but the staff were too. Being a lover of Japanese it was just by chance that we came across Ann Gyoza Bar(we were going to have mexican) and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed and was impressed by the flavours and textures of the Gyoza. As mentioned, the service was fantastic; the staff were very attentive. Can’t wait to go back.
