The Met — expensive, but an experience so incredible you won’t believe what’s happening. It has five levels — VIP, middle eastern style lounge, two dance floors, and a smokers deck, and a normal bar area. Bars are everywhere so there’s never a line. It’s so awesome. You’ll never wait more than three minutes for a drink, and the bartenders are really nice. I don’t believe it serves food but it is a nightclub, so that’s normal. It’s got great security so it’s a very safe club with nice college age students who are the normal clientele, so it isn’t super sketchy. That being said, it’s good for all ages!

It’s THE club of Brisbane for me. Good music and Dj, prices normal for an australian club and a lot of people. Good location and easy access. Try once and you will come back

The levels of this club is unbelievable! I am stunned with the walkways and stairs. It is well worth the price as I paid $ 30 on a busy hectic Saturday night. The bar service is quick and affordable. The DJ’s are mind blowing and the music amazes me. I would recommend this club targeted for young 18 year old’s like me who want to party away and have a really long mad night. The décor upstairs blew me away with a different nightclub scene than downstairs was. It is much more roomy towards later on at night and heaps relaxing. The booths are incredible! They sink you in and provide sufficient comfort. Good for a group of friends who just want to rest and chill out after dancing a lot. One downer is that you can easily get lost at this venue. Just make sure that your all together and you will be all good for the night. It can be a little daunting too, as is gets extremely crowded as the night wares on.

With more levels than you can keep your eye on, The Met is a club where you can lose yourself and have a night of carefree fun. In saying that however, I rather now see it as a venue for 18 year olds who want to get really drunk and find someone semi-attractive to grind on for a night. I used to enjoy coming here with friends for a dance, and honestly, The Met does have an amazing dance floor with music that resonates in your ears for hours afterwards. Unfortunately, at $ 20 for an entry fee, I don’t really see the point. I’d rather invest my $ 20 in a few beers or ciders than waste it in one transaction. For $ 20, I’d have to really love the place. And the juice isn’t really worth the squeeze for me when it comes to The Met. I used to love getting lost in the multi-level layout of this place back when I was a fresh-faced 18 year old. Sigh, nostalgia. But now when I want a dance, I just habitually mosey to Rics. I feel like a night at The Met requires more investment than I’m willing to give: high cover charge, excessively tight dress and excessively high heels, an open mind about music, and the acceptance that at least three people will want to grind on myself or my friends. Forgive me, but I’m not keen enough. It’s not The Met’s fault, we’ve just grown apart and want different things now. It’s not The Met, it’s me.

The Met’s design alone gets it 5 stars in my books. Its an amazing place to go if you have the money for it, $ 20 on the door for entry fee and welcome to a seriously interesting night club. There are lots of bars located on different levels of the Met. There’s a huge dance floor and stage area that are great for the international DJ’s that head there en masse every week or so. Downstairs is my favourite par, it’s cordoned off from the rest of the place and its usually quiet enough to hold a decent conversation. The cushioned areas are a nice place to relax and chill out over a few drinks, get in earlier if you want a booth because they generally are pretty packed for most of the night. If there’s a DJ you love and they’re playing at the Met, even on a weeknight, expect a huge crowd, but don’t let that get you down. It’ll be a great night no doubt, with many inappropriate stories to tell the next day. If anyone was there for Boyz Noize last year they will definitely understand what I’m talking about. Word to the wise, don’t try sneaking into the VIP area upstairs…

Standing on one of the many dance floors of The Met, my friend gestures to me that she is going to get us some more drinks. Five songs later, she still had not returned. Getting a text from her with what seemed like a secret location, I went on the hunt to find her. I always find myself completely lost in The Met and this night was no different. It is massive and has so many areas that each time I am in there I find a new one altogether. The problem with this is that it is very easy to loose your friends for the entire night in here. Lucky most drunk or dancing people are friendly enough. I searched high and low for my friend, soaking up the atmosphere of the Met as I did. There are dancing girls in cages here, seriously. I nearly didn’t notice them had I not looked up. Stumbling around this maze I found multiple bars, more dance floors than I could count each with their own DJ, and plenty of booths and spots to chill out on. After searching for what seemed like all night, I received yet another text, this time saying she had gone home. Attempting to do the same I managed to find my way out of the maze of smoky dance floors and grinding bodies despite not knowing which way I was going. I can imagine The Met would be a great place with a big group of friends, but on my adventure it was just all too overwhelming.

The Met is Brisbane’s biggest nightclub and gets my vote for the the best party spot on a Friday and Saturday night. It’s quite literally enormous, with five bars and three separate dance floors on three levels. Each dancefloor has its own DJ and there are quite often huge international DJ’s playing. They also have regular events like the Ministry of Sound tours. Downstairs there are cosy little booths with comfy cushions where you can hang out with a group of friends and get drinks from the bar or just take a break from dancing! Upstairs where the real music is, the dancefloor will be packed on a Saturday night but if you get a little claustrophobic the balcony overlooking the main floor is less crowded but still good for dancing. If you want to hang out in a smaller, classier bar, The Met has that covered too with the Coco Room, a small, private bar just near the exit. It’s the place that has it all! Cover charge varies depending on whether there are any big acts playing but on a regular night it’s usually $ 10 – 15. I know some people hate to pay cover charge but I really think this place is worth it and you won’t have to go anywhere else.
