I cannot handle how adorable this place is. The attention to detail is exquisite and every. little. thing. is perfectly on theme. I’m smitten. We stopped in for drinks on a Saturday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. I love loved loved the Mermaid Lagoon. You can never ever go wrong with basil. My husband ordered the Pixie Fire which has a Tom Yum flavor. Seriously. Tom Yum in a cocktail?! It was the most bizarre drink we have ever had, but it so worked. Spicy, but sweet, but tangy. It just worked somehow. Prices are a littttle high, but that is something I love about Australia. the attention to detail in drinks. These take the bartender some time to create and it is high high quality over quantity here. My only complaint is that those tree stump barstools were insanely uncomfortable :)

The Tree House is a funky little bar hidden down Bakery Lane in the Valley. Decked out to quite literally make you feel as though you are inside a tree this bar enters the realm of almost-so-hipster-it’s-inconvenient for me. Seating consists of pieces of wood(tree trunks?), some topped with fake grass and some not(fake grass pros: slightly more cushiony than tree trunk by itself. Fake grass cons: kind of itchy). Tree trunks also lay on their sides to act as foot rests — don’t try to pick these up to create extra seats(we tried, it didn’t work…) It’s a small place, best suited to a group of two or three. Don’t bring a large group here. Average service. Average drinks selection. Overall, it was fun as something different for a once off. Great location for a fun drink before dinner with a date. Not so convenient as a regular drinking spot.

Hidden in Bakery Lane, the décor is spot on considering it’s the Lost Boys’ treehouse, there is even a giant clock above the bar. Grab a seat on a tree trunk(so uncomfortable!) and enjoy a tap beer or something from the fridge. Vegetarian snacks are available but we didn’t get a chance to try them. It feels like a world away from the busy Valley, a nice little spot to grab a drink and have a chat.

Wander down Bakery Lane and you’ll find this ool little hole-in-the-wall bar Tree House. Resident of Brisbane’s newest revamped laneway Bakery Lane, this place is set up to be the next hipster hangout for sure. True to it’s name, this place is decked out like the inside of a big kid’s(cause ya know the addition of alcohol and all) treehouse with bespoke wooden furniture and craft beers & cocktails at the bar. Definitely cosy, probably only room for about 12 – 15 before it gets a bit sardine-like. Stools are actual tree trunks — a little awkward to sit on. We only came briefly for pre-dinner drinks, I had a Cheeky Rascal Cider and my friend tried out the wine list. I did spy an interesting looking cocktail list and tapas menu but unfortunate didn’t get to partake this time around. Worth a look in — will be back.
