Had breakfast with a girlfriend here this morning & was so impressed. Great friendly staff, fantastic coffee and the food was soo yummy. Afterwards it was great walking around with a take away coffee checking out the exhibitions, the shop also had some great gifts that I’ll defiantly be back for. I have been to Freo Arts centre for lots of concerts but it offers so much more… there are lots of great inexpensive things to do in Freo if you know where to look, think everyone should put this on their list of things to do.

Second time to canvas and it has impressed again. Soon as we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and found a perfect table. The garden seating is very nice. Food was great and could not fault it. Coffee is good and my green smoothie was even better. All in all I will be back and I highly recommend.

Last month when we stopped by Canvas they were closed due to renovations. Now that they’ve reopened, it was nice returning to a café that serves wonderful breakfast and lunch, with an amazingly friendly staff, great atmosphere at reasonable prices. I really enjoy their breakfast. When I’m in Freo visiting my parents, Canvas is usually a stop for me and my brother, to get some delish breakfast. The service is always spot on. The staff is definitely polite and always helpful. The food is absolutely scrumptious. My favourite brekkie item is the Eggs Flamenco, whilst my bro loves the Housemade Waffles with chocolate fudge sauce, double cream, and fresh fruit. Sounds more like a dessert, but when it’s so friggin good, eating these waffles anytime of the day is acceptable. The Eggs Flamenco consists of two poached eggs in buttered spinach, with gooey melted feta, and fresh herbs. I usually always order a side of chorizo, which is ridiculously good at Canvas. If you come here for lunch, their Beer Battered Barramundi(say that three times fast), absolutely rocks! This is truly a cool liitle café with a very comfortable and chill atmosphere. They also have a wonderful courtyard to relax and enjoy your food. Everytime I’ve been here to Canvas, I’ve been treated well and served some great tasting food. Never been disappointed with respect to any aspect of my dining experience. Definitely recommend if you are in or around Freo.

Brunch with a Middle Eastern rustic twist. Canvas is housed inside the beautiful and historic Fremantle Art Centre. Its a truly tranquil spot to bring a group of friends, some BYO bubbles and have a long table birthday brunch. The stars of the menu are the Shak-shukas. You probably know the traditional form — eggs poached in a rich tomato sauce with aromatic spices and fresh herbs, served in a small skillet. Well Canvas have taken this traditional berbers breakfast and made it their signature, adding versions that include fancy things like barrumundi, prawns and pork chipolatas… even lamb brains. I tried the«Sea» version with my pick of whiting. The serving was enough for two, but too delicious to be shared: D. It’s still a bit of a Freo kept secret but its in an easy running for one of the best brunches in Perth in my books.
