This is a super cute café hidden near Burwood station. It’s located in the bottom of an apartment building and doesn’t have much competition, but even if it did Baba Sus could probably blow them out of the water. I generally like the food here, it’s like an Asian fusion coffee place. The Vietnamese coffee was really tasty with the condensed milk, but we were sitting outside and the table wasn’t flat on the sidewalk so the strainer kept just spilling coffee onto my saucer. Oh well. The CLT(charsiu, LT) had a lot of flavor but proportionally I think the bread was a bit too much relative to the filling. The Inside Out was SUPER fun to eat(scotch eggs with the pork/cabbage filling that you get in bao as the sausage meat, with smashed peas on toast). We also split an egg waffle, and the waffles were pretty good, but not really Hong Kong style(which are crispy), as these ones are covered in custard, icecream and berry compote so they do soften considerably. I did find it really weird that you couldn’t modify ANY of the dishes. We asked for the icecream for the egg waffles to be served on the side(so we’d still get it) and were told we couldn’t get that; it HAD to come on the waffles. What? We had to explain that one of the people in our party was actually lactose intolerant but really wanted to try their egg waffles, before our server even checked with the kitchen if that was possible. When it was, that was fine, but I just found it a bit weird that their«no substitutions» rule was so rigid. Service was really good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The coffees are decent here as well. There’s some street parking in the area.

Friendly staff and good coffee. Gets busy on weekends. Try a matcha latte for something different.

Great little café next to Burwood Station. It’s usually busy on a sunny day no matter what time it is. The décor is fabulous and the food is tasty. The staff is lovely but you’ll have to wait a while for take away coffees.

What an incredible experience! This was the first day it was open(I had a little insider info!) and the décor was welcoming & stylish with big windows letting the sunlight in. Firstly, my partner both went and I and we couldn’t decide on what to order so we ended up having 3 breakfasts between the two of us! The congee(Chinese rice porridge) was recommended. You can’t leave this place without trying it. Each mouthful carried a different flavour, it was fresh, tasty, and we almost lucked the bowl. The Grunter — ham hoc croquettes with mushy peas and poached eggs. I don’t know what to say other than we almost came to fisticuffs over the last mouthful. It was one of the best savoury breakfasts I’ve ever had! The Malaysian roti with Thai style sausage and herbs was last. By this stage I was pretty full but it didn’t expect what I tasted which was light and herbal flavours. Next week they will be licensed and have outdoor seating to get in before broadsheet discovers it and it’s packed!
