You get consistency here and it is close to home. There are always tables available, the kitchen is open late, delivery is available and they do a point system too! There are better Thai food restaurants in Melbourne but I am a repeated customer here as the food is always consistent and though a bit on the oily side for me. Top dishes for me: Basil beef, Pad See Yew(thick noodles), Thai ice milk tea, green chicken curry with coconut rice.

Whenever I come to visit Melbourne from the States, Rose of Thailand is an absolute priority destination in terms of eating out. The food here is outstanding, and absolutely the best Thai available anywhere that I’ve been. The service is excellent and due to the price of dining out being pretty insane in Australia, I would say that the cost is just about right where it ought to be. I previously came here during a vegetarian phase and found myself attached to the vegetarian options on the menu, including fried rice, peanut curry, and a spicy noodle dish called Pad Kee Mao. I highly recommend any of those three, as the flavors are really outstanding. Being that I am yet to try any of their meat options, I can’t speak to the quality of those, but the vegetables are fresh and the overall flavor of everything on the menu is really good. I would also recommend the Thai beer Singha with just about anything on the menu, as in my limited experience it is the best Thai beer that is widely available, and drinking an Australian beer at a Thai restaurant is just stupid.

I only have the one experience at this place, and that was a take away meal a few months back. It’s nice and cheap, and the food is tasty. The only issue is they stuffed our order up. So our quick take away meal turned into a twenty minute round trip to pick up the rice and curry they forgot to pack. Having said that, I will still give them the three stars because that can happen to any restaurant.

The Rose of Thailand is a wonderful place to take either the family or a date for a special night. I think it’s party because of the location — it feels a little bit quiet and removed from the rush of everyday life — and the decoration — minimal, but very Thai. Picturesque. The food is very cheap for its quality(expect to pay around $ 30 per person). The service is fantastic, they really looked after us when we went. The staff are very knowledgable about the gluten free items on their menu — what is already ok and what can be made so. I ordered the steamed bass, which turned out to be the entire fish. As you can imagine this was rather filling, so I didn’t have space to try anything else to comment on. It was very tasty, though.

I’ve been eating Thai food from Rose of Thailand since they first opened quite a few years ago now. It’s pretty much hidden away off Blackburn road, opposite the Syndal train station. I’ve been going there for very good reasons. The food is excellent. It’s got acceptable décor. Service is usually pretty fast. Did I mention that the food is excellent? It’s pretty well priced too. I usually grab a red beef curry, and that’s under $ 15. A bit of coconut rice and maybe an appetiser, and you’ve got a nice dinner for two for around $ 25. Occasionally there are mistakes made when you order, like getting chicken instead of beef, and that sort of thing. But they’ll bend over backwards to make things right. That’s part of the reason I like them. They’re very customer satisfaction focused. Give them a go. You’ll really like the food. Especially if you get off the train at Syndal after a hard day at work.
