This Dan Murphy’s consumed Baileys & Baileys, another Woolworths sub branded liquor store, for which I will NEVER forgive it. Baileys & Baileys did dedicated single malt scotch tasting nights, which were worth their weight in taxi fees to attend. As much as I despise this store for depriving me of my tastes of single malt that I’ve never been able to justify spending the dosh on, it does do a good job as a huge liquor store. I can honestly say I’m yet to find an alcoholic product I haven’t been able to get here, and the staff know what’s hidden around the store, too. I’ve found the staff friendly, opposed to some stores where the attitude to the customers seems to be that they’re completely some kind of interruption to the normal business of the store.

Dan Murphys is a regular stopover on a Friday/Saturday when you need to pick up something for pre-drinks, or you need to buy something for a house party, etc. It is a franchise liquor store with multiple branches across SA, and you can basically find anything in here. As this particular Dan Murphys is down the road from me, I come here regularly and always find what I need easily with the help of friendly staff. I stick to what I know: spirits. If you ask me about wine or beer, I’ll just nod and smile and talk about Corona(it’s the only beer I like, so it’s the only beer I know). So whenever my parents or whoever ask me to pick up a nice red wine or beer«because we’re entertaining» or «because so and so are coming for dinner tonight», I, without fail, will have to ask for assistance. Luckily, the staff here are very warm and cheerful and have helped me on multiple occasions to get the right drinks for everyone. Walking in, the place is quite big but easy to navigate around, and, if you’re as petite as me, you too will be thanking your lucky stars they have trolleys as well as baskets.
