Great brunch options with amazing open faced omelette a that have roasted chicken, spinach, mushrooms, or traditional ham and cheese– for $ 15. Just great location across from Gordon train station. Free parking around the corner.

I am a Pecorino junkie. There I have confessed it. Though I love Pablo & Rusty’s on the other side of the train station, Pecorino’s is more conducive to a cup of coffee and conversation with friends. The seating is more ample and the shop is less busy by virtue of being off the highway. I love their Vanilla Lattes. For afternoon tea, it is always fun to nibble on their delicious Bruschetta. Sit out on the patio to absorb the beautiful Sydney sunshine and enjoy the lovely landscape across the street.

Look, it’s well-located with easy parking on weekends, and the coffee is quite good. But breakfast… mmm, ok. Nothing flash, or different, fairly plain in fact. This is not a place I’d go out of my way to visit again, but I would go if it was on my way, if you get my drift!

Where as the other side if Gordon station is hectic and congested with commuters either moving towards the train station or the Pacific Hwy, on this side, still with a fair chunk of through traffic, it feels relaxed and suburban. A great place to sit down for a morning coffee and gently start the day. Ordering my dbl mac as per usual, I thought I might treat myself to a big breaky(honestly I had a bit of a craving for bacon). So while waiting for breaky to arrive my coffee appeared and at first glance, these guys had done a pretty good job. Not too much milk or froth, a good amount of crema, and it was not burnt. About the only thing they could have done better would have been to have shorter shots. As my first Schibello coffee I can only compare it to other brands. This one has a bland commercial flavour to it. I would still put it above Vittoria, but when compared to Vella Nero, Klink, or Air Coffee, there simply is no comparison. As I finished my coffee, breakfast arrived. I hate to be too picky but… a big breaky with only 1 rasher of bacon, a hash brown soaked in oil, and what can only be described as a cheap Coles like sausage is not Ao impressive. The eggs were well cooked and the mushrooms were generous, but I don’t think I shall order this from here again. Pecorino is a decent place to stop by and grab a cup of coffee while you’re waiting to get picked up. Conveniently located across from Gordon station, it provides a much nicer place to sit and wait and read magazines before your ride arrives. The afternoon rush consists of older ladies sitting down and having a nice gossip session, with young mum and school kids popping in every so often on the walk home after school. Service can be on and off, where sometimes the wait isn’t worth not getting my coffee over. There are seats outside that head out onto the footpath but it’s still shaded by the awning. The place is quite small, so unless you sit inconspicuously in a corner there’s a lot of bustling about to be expected.

I’d like to think I am a generous person. Kind, relaxed about things, likes a joke, laughs with the best of them, forgiving. But — and please, if you don’t mind, let me set the scene somewhat — if it’s late Sunday morning and I haven’t had a thing to eat and I’m so hungry I can barely talk please don’t get my order wrong. It’s a beautiful day and I’m grateful and it’s quiet(the café is just on the other side of Gordon Station to the St Johns Ave side which is, boy, so busy) and I’ve got the Sunday paper in front of me and I am willing(not wanting, but willing) to wait 15 minutes. So, why is it then, that you come and give me a salmon omelet(and another to my partner but that’s ok because he actually ordered it) when I Don’t Eat Salmon. I asked you for the vegetarian option. But you’ve given me salmon(you didn’t write the order down. Do you see what happens?). When I don’t eat it. So I don’t eat breakfast. I read while my boyfriend eats. And I was hungry.
