Good vibes in here. Tasty, tasty Banana smoothie. And this French Toast really hit the spot, but then to have that bacon with it, blew it out of the park(I rarely write up reviews, so I ain’t exaggerating). Staff are welcoming, much needed on a lazy Saturday morning. We’ll be back, as it so close to the beach.

This is a Saturday morning regular for me. Great coffee, friendly service and THE best scones. I almost don’t want to recommend them on here for fear of them becoming scarce. The core business here is coffee and bakery goods, an extensive range of savoury and sweet options which are generally all divine. Credit also needs to go to the cooked breakfasts, a small list with regular specials, its bacon and eggs with fancy chutneys kind of fare. The space is a little tight so at peak times you may struggle to get a table, if that’s the case grab your food to go and stroll to the beach for a picnic. Just save a scone for me.

Not sure if I should write a review after only buying 2 takeaway cakes, however I’m compelled to share this gorgeous place as soon as possible! Situated adjacent Grange Beach, this bakery has capacity to sit inside or out, and with the doors and windows wide open, both offer an opportunity to soak up the sea breeze and the sounds of the seaside. The cakes and pastries all looked so fresh and inviting and the recipients of my takeaway cakes attest to the fact they were as delicious as they looked! I also witnessed a few examples of great customer service to other customers, whilst I was in there. I was greeted so warmly and the staff members were smiling and friendly. The décor is light and airy, stylish and clean and there is ample parking nearby. I think it would be a perfect place to refuel after a beachside bike ride!

After having breakfast across the road and rummaging in the bargain bins in Chemart just around the corner(seriously go there, good bargains in those bins!), I was procrastinating on what to have for lunch. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m thinking of my next meal as soon as I’ve finished the final mouthful of my last meal! I eat every few hours to fuel my gym training(and to satisfy my food addiction) so my stomach is like a well trained seal and gets hungry on cue. It was a toss up to try a new Banh Mi place or a piping hot pie. The pie won! This place was warm and inviting and if I had the time I would’ve dined in but instead opted for takeaway. I ordered a chunky beef & mushroom pie and my mum got the cornish pasty. Also decided on a couple Portuguese custard tarts. The Portuguese tarts weren’t anything special. The glaze on top was weird. Not the crème brûlée kind but a Danish glaze with a slight citrus hint. My custard was overcooked and filling was only around 3−5mm in height. It was also super sweet. The pie had everything going for it(almost). I’m finicky with my pastry. It had the perfect combination of flake on the outside and that soft pastry that’s absorbed some of the pie liquid on the inside. My pie did fall apart as I bit into it as the pastry was very thin. It had a fantastic meaty tasty flavour but the steak was very lean so ended up like dry hard chunks that didn’t melt but stuck to the roof of my mouth. My mum is a Cornish pasty connoisseur and these were her thoughts on the pasty. The ratio of pastry to filling wasn’t quite there. She found that the filling was minimal compared to her favourites. Also upon biting in to it you get hit with a strange aroma like off onions in the pantry. That being said the flavour was good but it could’ve done with more seasoning, in particular that peppery hint you normally find in Cornish pasties. After taking a bite myself I concur with her thoughts. Would I return again? Probably not. If I was in the area and needed a pie fix, then sure. It certainly wasn’t an awful experience. I guess it’s just hard to beat Red Door or the Willunga bakery.

Delicious, yummy, tasty, scrumptious and that’s just the café itself! The colour scheme is almost edible upon looking at the black detailed exterior, polished wood floor, neutral pale walls, sumptuous wooden cabinetry, chocolate Parisian inspired bentwood chairs and the mandatory chandelier in black of course. A very classy café for Grange which has come up in Adelaide’s western beach suburbs. No formal dress code is required but I feel the need to be dressy casual as thongs will not do this place justice. And now for the food… I’ll have one of each please! All the food is handmade with love and presented in the most delectable way!

A café that uses the same renowned recipes as that of the famous St Peter’s Bakehouse? An excuse to eat steak for morning tea? Serve me up a slice of that. The sophisticated modern setting of the House Café, combined with the scenic setting of the Grange beach make this the perfect setting for coffee with friends or a weekend brunch. Breakfast is served on weekends only and caters for those sweet inclined with a folded pancake with a mixed berry compote, Canadian maple syrup and vanilla ice-cream($ 7.90) and the savoury minded with locally sourced free range eggs served on toasted crusty bread with a side of bacon($ 11.90). Everything is handmade at this café, including their famous pies, the Chunky beef and potato pie($ 4.30) and the Chunky beef and cheese pie($ 4.00) both filling enough to count as a meal. Their scrumptious cakes retail from $ 3.00 and include vanilla slices, carrot cake and lemon curd tart. Not only are the cakes sweet, but so is the story behind this delicious spot. Owner Kate Reynolds was going to the St Peter’s Bakery for 10 years before meeting her now partner Damien Obst who owns the bakery! That love is carried through the cooking and is present during the entire House Café Bakery experience, down to the wonderful and knowledgeable customer service.

Walking around the lovely suburb of Grange me and a friend came about the House Café Bakery, and stopped for an afternoon lunch. Not having to wait long for our order, we sat in our corner and enjoyed what was a great bakery snack, with a great coffee and apparently what was the best banana smoothie my friend has ever had. We had absolutely nothing to complain about whilst having a feed/drink here, which is something we like to do! We even indulged on what was one of the softest and freshest doughnuts I have ever had from a random café! Well done House Café Bakery, well done.
