This place is considered a fish and chip shop but really it’s a fishmonger with a grill and deep fryer in the back. They do serve fish and chips with great fresh local flake, blue grenadier, or barramundi depending on the fish of the day but you could just as well pick out a fish from their glass cabinet and ask them to to cook it however you like and serve it with a side of salad or fries. If your health conscious they are happy to grill instead of batter and deep fry your fish! If you do go deep fried, it’s not oily either. You can also find fresh oysters, crab, prawns… Anything that breaths water! I highly recommend them!

Huge portions but unfortunately not a great experience AFTERTHEMEAL, if you all can understand. I have had better and cannot place this restaurant on the top of my list. Service was polite and courteous but the food did not pass the test.

First time here, and I wasn’t disappointed. The food tasted good and wasn’t greasy. The servings were generous, and a «pack» is probably too much for one person. 3 people could probably share 2. Prices are quite reasonable, but be aware it’s somewhat more expensive than your average suburban fish and chip shop.

Whenever I take a stroll down Glenferrie Road, I pass by Aqua Fresh Fish & Chippery and notice that there’s always people coming in and out. Pretty good sign — a popular fish and chip shop. The other day I finally tried this place out and it’s pretty good. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is unimpressive, but you can’t blame it — it’s a fish & chip shop. You have a basic counter to take your order and there’s always a few shaky tables for outside seating as well. Customer Service: The man who served me was really nice, so I have nothing bad to say about that. The fish & chips didn’t take super long to come out — but there is a decent wait. Aqua Fresh isn’t exactly a fast takeaway. Food: I ordered the Flake & Chips and it came to a decent price of around 9 dollars. Considering the value for money, this place is already bumped up in my book. You are given a large battered fish that is juicy and yummy. The chips weren’t amazing and were maybe a bit too tough instead of soft and fluffy, but they weren’t awful either. Squirt a bit of lemon, pour a bit of vinegar, and sprinkle and a bit of pepper to make a grade — A meal! Overall, who can fault Aqua Fresh? Friendly customer service, decent prices, and filling portions. It’s fish & chips, so obviously don’t expect gourmet. But a terrific snack during the day? You bet.

It doesn’t get much better than this for fish and chips. Our standard order is so delicious I simply can’t order anything else for fear of it not living up to the expectations I have for each meal here. Most fish and chips shops have one or two items they do well and the rest fall below par but here, rest assured stick to the typical menu items and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Fried dim sims(a guilty pleasure — as opposed to other fish and chip items) are salty, crisp, crunchy, the potato cakes are crispy, salty, soft in the inside — divine. The chips are also a highlight, thick but not too thick they stick in the back of your throat like some fish and chip shops. And then there’s the burger. It’s testament to the venue that we choose their burger over grilled, just down the road, time and time again. The patty is dripping with flavour and the fried onions… oh the onions. It’s as perfect to a burger as you will find. Possibly not receiving the heart foundation tick, let’s not kid ourselves. So Aqua, I thank god at least one a week when I walk past and pat myself on the back for living so close, I can count you as my local fish and chip shop. I love you.
