We set off an adventure — planning to leave the suburb and visit a previously unknown breakfast frontier. Out of the driveway and turn left — hold up — that place we spotted the other night is open and looking lonely on a Sunday morning. So far we have driven about 150 meters. A screeching u– turn and another left turn to park and walk into moonshine café. A welcome new addition to the somewhat monopolized auburn road precinct. The welcome was warm — the coffee by Toby’s caught my attention. The interior reminded me of a beach house but with less shells — white floors and colored murals. It seems the ship was being manned by a 2 man crew that day. But the crew delivered. Coffee was a very happy tick. The breakfast menu is served till 2.30 on weekends. Tick. Nice selection of breakfast staples. Tick Between arriving and ordering our coffees the place filled up with other coffee and breakfast punters. We will slightly worried about the time it would take to get our food after ordering but the captain of the ship didn’t falter. Double tick of awesome. Our breakfasts arrived and wow so pretty. We both ordered bacon and scrambled eggs The bread was brasserie — tick — the eggs rich and delicious with a generous hit of chives and a side of butter. Quite frankly this was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. If everything cooked by moonshine is this good — I won’t have to travel far ever again for breakfast. Look there were a few kinks — short staffed and maybe a few cushions on the seats — but at the end of the day — these things will iron out with time. Welcome to the neighborhood moonshine café — you officially have the best coffee in the riversdale /auburn area and I’m looking forward to my next visit.
