It’s a real uni bar, which is awesome if you’re a uni student, and slightly less so if you’re not. Staff are either super friendly chill or blank and wordlessly cold. Still a decent place to get a pint around Hawthorn, but in my advancing years I’m more likely to pop a few doors up to the wine bar instead.

For $ 20 for a bottle of the house white, it will take a lot to get me to leave! Nevermind is a fun, quirky and social bar that always spins fabulous old school tracks on vinyl records that make the dance floor(very small one) too hard to resist! There is heaps of seating outside as there are two separate roof tops but beware on a Tuesday night especially, it is an art getting a seat for you and your clique. My recommendation is to grab the cute little table as soon as you walk in and mark your territory for the night. Maybe I shouldn’t have told you that… Anyway! Nevermind is a little slice of heaven and luckily for me … It’s close to home

A great little place and lucky for us, nice and close to home! Stopped for a cider one Saturday afternoon. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The place has two roof top bar places and a small inside area at the back. Meals are cheap and a small bar sized menu. A friendly place to meet with friends and have a few drinks. Will definitely be back!

Hung out here on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday. Rooftop bar is comfy, even on a cold night. Beers $ 11 a pint! And a cash only bar. Wow. I’d like to go back on a sunny afternoon and see what it’s like then.

Cute little bar with three different levels for seating(we chose the«middle» outside area and it was very pleasant, save for the smokers); we were pretty low-key in our drink choices and opted for a pint of Little Creatures Bright Ale, but it looked like they had a fair selection of spirits behind the bar as well; super friendly staff; delicious food options(mostly American-style — we ordered poutine); and a fun game on Thursdays whereby you spin a wheel for the opportunity to win a keg of your choosing! We, of course, did not win, but I like the idea! We came on a Thursday afternoon and the place was quiet and chilled out. I liked it!

There are 3 levels of places to sit and eat. It’s really casual and had couches, chairs and tables and you can sit at the bar. The food sounded amazing but we had already had dinner so we just had a drink :)

Nevermind is like one of those old records you grew up with, that your parents would play, and even though you know it’s complete garbage, when you experience it, it has so much sentimental value. It reminds you that even something that has two stars can still make you smile. It’s situated literally across the road from uni, so I still make the occasional appearance. But I do miss the messy summer nights staying their til early morning and talking to all sorts of people. If you can get there on a night other than Tuesday, it’s not a bad place to chill. They play some great music that isn’t intrusive.

I’d give this place five stars… if I were an 18 year old who had just discovered alcohol and wanted a decent assortment of reasonably priced mainstream beverages. I’d give it five stars… if I were a uni student who wanted a relaxed place, with battered old couches and a huge DVD selection, to sit with my friends and a jug of beer after lectures. The problem is, I’m none of these things and so The Nevermind Bar doesn’t receive my highest rating. Look, I understand the appeal — I imagine if I’d found it 10 years ago when my palate not yet accustomed to fine wine, my snobbery not yet developed well enough to notice that the ice is poor quality, the staff far too relaxed and the customers more interested in eyeing up the tables of other young things rather than wishing there was more than one variety of Gin behind the bar… I may have been a regular here. A visit to The Nevermind Bar is, for me, a very rare occurrence — the sort of place I’d go on a warm night when I want to take advantage of their back verandah(with gorgeous views of the church spire) and perhaps pretend, just for an hour, that I’m younger than I really am.

While my favourite bars and pubs are generally located in the Fitzroy, Collingwood and Richmond areas, I have a nostalgic love for Nevermind. It is cozy, comfortable, friendly and familiar. When you just want to drink all these factors become pretty important. Comprising of a few different levels, an outdoors area and a lot of seating, Nevermind pulls steady crowds and has a really nice atmosphere. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or picked up any dodgy vibes. Its just a nice location and is filled with seemingly nice people. Due to the large amount of couches Nevermind is the perfect location to catch up with friends or even hold an event. The only thing I have a problem with is continuously walking up and down stairs to get drinks but it doesn’t seem to bother me too much once I’ve had a few.

Although some may be a little daunted by the crowds, Nevermind shouldn’t be overlooked, for once you squeeze by the bar the venue is actually quite long and spacious. With couches, bricked interior and pool tables, Nevermind is a great local venue as it also provides interesting events, from table tennis comps to trivia nights. Plus, if the weather permits, the rooftop beer garden is a great way to see a unique view of Hawthorn.
