Well I told myself to give this place a second chance — another disappointment. I was craving a fruit smoothie and saw that a large was only $ 6 at Doolies vs. $ 7.50 at New Zealand Natural. I’ve had NZN before and it was delicious! But again, thought I give Doolies a second chance. There wasn’t a strawberry-banana option, but they did have blueberry-banana. I asked if they could substitute the blueberries with strawberries instead. The employee so kindly obliged. I watched him scoop some yoghurt into a blender, added prepacked strawberries, a whole banana, some ice, a squirt of strawberry syrup and milk… MmMMm that’s going to taste bomb I thought… Well the kid comes back with my drink and says $ 7… $ 7!?! I thought it was only $ 6 for a large! He says since I added«extra» strawberries, it’s a dollar more. I wasn’t going stand there an argue over $ 1, but it’s pretty shady since I substituted my fruit and not added extra fruit. The smoothie didn’t even taste good!!! Boost or New Zealand Natural would’ve been a better choice… Live and learn… Don’t go to Doolies

It’s become a habit of mine to find something sweet in the afternoon, just to balance out the dullness of a tutorial at uni. In Market City we happened upon this juice/smoothie station Doolies which none of us had tried before. The menu wasn’t as standard as other juice stations and had quite a few exotic flavours that stood out amongst the traditional banana and mango. After perusing through the list of tropical fruits we both decided on the mango and coconut combination(we both stubbornly refused to get different flavoured ones). A small one was sweet enough to satisfy me(at $ 5.00), while her larger one came at $ 5.50. Apart from being very reasonably priced for the size, the smoothie was quite simply, yummy. The mango was somewhat of the Weis bar variety, but not super sweet which is how I like it. Obviously I prefer fresh baby coconut to the desiccated kind, but well, you can’t have everything. There definitely will be a next time for us — I’m already eyeing their raspberry coconut flavour.
