The Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den is located on a side door near the pool table of the Brisbane Hotel. The climb up the stair is steep so take care! The comedy lounge offers $ 5 shows on Tuesday nights, starting at 8:30pm(tickets at the door), which was what we went to see. It’s called Shapiro Tuesday — a night of experimentation and comedy chaos, where first time comedians bust their cherries and regulars try out their new material to either success or silence. I have to applaud at all those that get up there, because man it would be nerve wrecking. Some of the people on the night were pretty funny and others were. well. first timers and you know it… but man they did a good job! And for $ 5 a pop and a nice dinner beforehand, it’s a great weeknight out. And if you are gutsy and want to try your hand at being a stand-up comedian, you can contact the guys at the Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den on: Apart from Tuesday nights, the Lazy Susan Comedy does shows on Friday and Saturday nights too. Friday nights(doors open 8pm, tickets $ 25) are their Stand Up Comedy nights with Perth’s best comedian along with frequent interstate acts. Saturday nights — THEBIGHOO-HAA(doors open 8pm, tickets $ 25) — It’s in its 12th year and it’s a improvised comedy show were two teams of fearless comedians battle in a competition of wit and humour. Definitely something different to try on any day of the week!

Upstairs at the Brisbane hotel. It hosts several nights a week of local and visiting comedy. We went along on Friday night and it was a hoot. $ 25 and 5 local and 1 visiting comedians is such good value. We got our tickets at the door, but it did end up a sell out so buy online to avoid disappointment. You buy your drinks downstairs and can take them into the venue but probably don’t have too many, the stairs are treacherously steep.

This is a great venue for comedy. It’s insulated from the noise at The Brisbane Hotel downstairs but has all the convenience of being at a pub because you can bring your drinks and food upstairs. The room is narrow and long, so there are lots of seats enabling you to sit as close to or far away from the action as you dare, but it isn’t too big so still feels intimate. The gigs here aren’t expensive either.

Lazy Susan’s never fails to impress me. Whether it’s the Big Hoo Haa, Free Love Improve or standup, this is the place to be for comedy in Perth. Situated upstairs at the Brisbane Hotel, one of the bonuses is being able to take your drinks from the bar of the Brisbane to the comedy venue. Highly recommend Saturday nights for the Big Hoo Haa — improvisational comedy at it’s best to!

Many people say that Perth has no mid week entertainment. That is not true. Tuesday night is open mic night at Lazy Susans, a funky little comedy club above The Brisbane. For $ 5 you get a mixture of new and experienced comedians doing their thing. Have a laugh, it is good for your soul. Then end the night downstairs enjoying a drink in style.

A young Italian looking girl works here and makes my visits all the more enjoyable. She always has a big smile sprawled upon her face, perhaps because she works at a comedy club or the fact that she just loves her job and is really friendly. Whatever the reason for her beaming smile and cheery hellos it makes my night all the better. I love good service and friendly people. They have some amazing different nights on and some really funny acts. I love going to the open mic nights and seeing some up and coming talent. Some of them are quite funny, others not so much, but it is a great night no matter what is on.

A comedy venue with a passion for comedy. They hold regular open-mic style nights for beginners(the very thought makes my stomach shudder) on Tues. nights and entry is only $ 5. The last Thurs. of the month is a little odd over at Lazy Susan’s. Known as Fuppet, the night involves a collaboration of improvised comedy using puppets! Creative and hilarious. It is situated above The Brisbane so your night can continue after the structured comedy and start your own.

Perth has a surprisingly good choice of comedy nights in various spots around the city, but Lazy Susan’s is the only dedicated comedy venue, and boy is it a good’un. Whether you’re here for a chill night with friends, a date night with your other half, or a first date with someone new, you’re guaranteed to have a right larf! With a wide range of comedians and comediennes getting up onto the tiny stage in the intimate room, from newbies to old hats, you’ll definitely spend the evening in stitches, whether you’re laughing at or with the act will remain to be seen! Come here most nights of the week(Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) for somewhere to pass a few hours before toddling home, or make a night of it and have some food and drinks downstairs in the Brisbane Hotel. Either way you’re laughing!

Don’t go telling me there’s nothing to do in Perth. There’s plenty — you just have to know where to look. Lazy Susan’s is a hip, intimate venue just a flight of(alarmingly narrow) stairs above the Brisbane Hotel, where a variety of comedy acts hit the stage almost every night of the week. I’m a big fan of this place, especially five buck Shapiro Tuesdays, where a bunch of first-times get up and either soar above the crowd or crash in the hardest, most unfortunate ways imaginable. It’s kind of funny whichever course it takes — unless the jokes are too far below the belt. That just tends to be awkward for everyone. Fuppet(improvisation using puppets) is also very entertaining, and for some solid stand-up comedy, Friday nights are always good fun. Lazy Susan’s is a great date spot I’ve found — you can have a drink down at the Brisbane to begin with and then enjoy some comedy while subtly assessing your partner’s humour up top. You’ll love the edgy, compact, exposed-brick venue if nothing else.
