Wall Candy offers a plethora amount of wall paper and other furnishings, mainly vintage-style. As a graphic designer, I absolutely love being able to touch each paper and feel the dimension to it. I probably perused the store for over an hour. They have a lot of selection, but I found myself still wanting more. The color schemes they offer, while the print may be bold, is more often than not muted. The pricing is a bit outlandish, $ 100 for a teeny-tiny roll. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to do a full room. With those prices, you are lucky to get an accent wall done. Please note, the clearance section is in the back. The store is very neat and tidy in the front and goes down hill in the back. To get to the clearance section, be prepared to move odds and ends. They make you work if you want to save a buck. The young girls running the store didn’t know anything about wallpaper application. That should have been included during Orientation 101. Instead they handed me a business card of someone that charges. I fell in love with two vintage chairs that weren’t priced. The girls had to call the owner off-site and I waited about 15 minutes to s/he called them back. The owner didn’t know what chairs they were talking about, so they took down my name and number to call me back with the pricing. As the story goes, I never heard from them again. Wall Candy is great for buying wallpaper. It isn’t great if you are needing/wanting answers to anything. This place could use a heaping scoop of sugary, sweetness.

I never thought I’d find such an enormous dedication to wallpaper in one store. Wall Candy stocks an abundance of delicious patterns and prints to spice up any space. Wallpaper is no longer just for grannies, it’s very in vogue, and not to mention the most affordable way to add interest to your favourite room. It only takes one wall covered in a punchy print to inject a room with some personality. There are wallpaper designs to thrill a variety of tastes and habitats; French country floral, exotic Iberian, geometrics, and Art Nouveau aplenty. There is also quirky collection of stylized motif prints like birds, shoes, city skylines and even Burlesque characters.

Unlike the rest of the female population, I’m not really into home décor. Italian leather and Ikea and cutesy little mugs and cup cake stands really are not my thing. But I kind of really like Wall Candy wallpaper. Why? Maybe it’s because I really am like all those other girls that go a bit ga-ga over Damasc prints and polka dots, although I really hate to admit it. If you’re into all that interior design stuff, you’ll go bananas over Wall Candy. They’ve got retro wall prints, baroque style rolls to make even the tiniest apartment feel luxurious, a variety of different coloured tartans, designs for the kiddies and this totally cool brick pattern I’m lusting after for my lounge room. And at $ 109 a roll, that’s definitely cheaper than renting out an actual loft apartment.
