Great location, good menu and excellent service. The wood fired pizzas were a huge hit with the kids! There was a special on a lovely gin and tonic for $ 10, too. I had the spaghetti del pescatore which was packed with fresh ingredients.

I recently took an older friend to lunch here and the food was great and plentiful. They now have a lunchtime special for $ 15 — $ 20 plus $ 5 for a glass of wine every day except Sunday. The last time I had been here was a year or two ago and I found it expensive and quite ordinary apart from the amazing view. Easy access & parking for the elderly. Definitively coming back.

Mia Cucina in Hillarys is set a little further away from the main jetty area where most of the cafes and restaurants are, and for that reason it’s a fantastic place to eat when you haven’t planned ahead and want a large range of options to choose from. The food has been good every time I’ve been there, and there’s a decent view of the sunset(although if seeing the sunset is your priority there are probably other venues with a better view). I’ve been happy with everything I’ve had there, and their entrée size dishes are enough as a small main especially if you want to leave room for dessert. It’s not ‘blow your mind amazing’, but definitely a reliable alternative if you don’t want to settle for one of the cheaper, casual options in the area.

We went here for breakfast as invited by a friend and my partner warned me about it, having been there before. Nonetheless, I was willing to go in with an open mind! We arrived early and were seated at the table and had coffee orders taken while we were waiting for others. So far, so good. After 10 or so minutes, the rest of our party arrived and we had our coffees, but it went downhill from there. It was hard to get prompt service from this place. I’m not sure if it’s because they are understaffed but there was definitely not a full house in here. We ordered our meals, so were special with extra sides etc. I went with the corn fritters while my partner went with the full breakfast and others had various things. My meal was ok, a bit ordinary but nice enough. Other people however weren’t satisfied with their meals. All the people with poached eggs received them hard and overdone. Someone ordered extra hashbrowns extra, it was supposed to come with 3 but it only came with 2 and everyone had burnt edges on the toast. Nice view, lots of promise but I wont be going back due to the quality of food and lack of service.

I have only been here once and it was for an early lunch. It was a beautiful day so that obviously affected any objectivess I woul have, especally when you’re sitting in the marina in Hillary’s. For me, it was quite a nice lunch. I had the smoke salmon, ricotta and and rocket cuscinetti which was light and delicious. The only reason I am a little cagey is beacuse I have heard some friends compain about the dinners here but I can only reflect on what I had and it was a nice relaxed experience with some nice food.

We were all looking forward to an enjoyable champagne breakfast experience… unfortunately that was not the case. The owners have skimped on the staffing with one poor poor girl left to serve all the tables, this with an also unstaffed kitchen produced small portioned cold bacon and egg meals at a charge of 15.50 a serve concludes my poor review of this venue. Maybe they should just stick to dinner.

With its stunning view of Hillarys Boat Harbour and the Breakwater across the way, Mia Cucina is an excellent place to sit and enjoy this section of the coast, regardless of whether one is taking in a full meal or merely enjoying a coffee. The interior design is as accomplished as the view is appealing and the staff are warm and welcoming, as well as good at what they do. The Italian-inspired menu teems with pizza, pasta and seafood, as well as some excellent red meat options, and is able to cater to those with various dietary requirements.(«I’m lactose intolerant. I won’t stand for lactose. I have no time for it.») It isn’t exactly cheap, but the no menu along this section of coast really is, and in any case the food is excellent. As is the coffee, which is worth getting takeaway even if you’re not stopping to eat.
