The food is edible. Which is always nice. For a small suburban restaurant it had quite a number of customers making it easily the most popular restaurant on the strip. The service was fast, the waiters polite and helpful. The cleanliness is a bit of an issue as well as the general presentation of the restaurant. However, the food and the great value definitely made up for this. Overall I found it an enlightening experience and as the food enabled me to connect with Vietnamese culture on a deeper level. I hope to dine with you next time.

If you eat out regularly because of a busy schedule then quality food and affordability are two criteria I look for. That said, cleanliness and somewhat of a nice atmosphere are also important if you are a regular. Whilst the staff are very friendly in this family run business, it could definitely be improved from a cleanliness and hygiene perspective. The food was nothing to rave about, and have tasted a lot better at other local vietnamese eats. Not a place id rush back unless I was desperate and everything else was closed.

This is always a busy place and you’ll see lines outside all the time while other places have empty spaces. I’ve never understood it but my Asian friends say it’s a culture thing, if you see a line it must be good and you line up too! I don’t know about that but certainly the phở here is excellent. I’m no expert but the flavor is deep and I end up drinking the soup all the time! Not sure if you’re supposed to do that cuz other people don’t seem to. Anyway, head in when the line is short :)

We frequent here regularly and have some things we order regularly off the menu. This includes the spring rolls, crispy chicken with fried rice, salt and pepper pork ribs, crab noodle and of course the Phở(beef noodle soup). The spring rolls are nice and crispy. I enjoy wrapping them in lettuce with the mint and carrots then dipping them in the Nuoc Cham(Vietnamese fish sauce). The fried rice is oily goodness with a nice crispy skin chicken that has moist and succulent flesh. The pork is tasty but you’re likely to get a bit thirsty after a plate of it, so order the version with rice and veggies to offset this ;) The bowls of phở and crab noodle soup are so good not just in the middle of winter to warm your belly but well worth having in summer when they crank on the aircon inside. Will continue to be a regular here for sometime …

My recent obsession for Asian food, has landed me in Phở Saigon at Homebush. First time in a Vietnamese restaurant, I was surprised at the menu. They have food pictures on the wall and you order by selecting a number that depicts what you’d like to order.(They have a menu too. but it’s more fun ordering this way) Not sure what is Vegetarian or what to order the first time, my partner insisted I try the Laksa. To describe how it tasted in one word — Awesome! I loved it from the first spoonful. It is huge soupy dish with noodles and veggies floating in coconut milk base. I could easily have fed 3 people. Portions are large. I like mixing the spicy chill paste into the Laksa, which I affectionately call«Bam!» Ask for it as they don’t serve it along with the dish. During lunch the place is packed with office goers and on more than one occasion I have seen police officers too! It closes early, so if you’re planning on heading there for dinner, get there early. It is located opposite the station and although not the most ideal place to go on a first date, the food is terrific. The ambience is ordinary but neat and tidy.
