We love driving out to the hills on a Sunday morning and recently decided to try Jack and Jill’s café. The place was very busy for 8am but we managed to score a seat. Good was delicious but took a little while to come out as they were so busy. I like the order and pay at the counter routine, makes like easier when the bill comes. Menu has some great items and really something for everyone.

Give credit where credit is due. This place is hands down an exceptional café. From the friendly and attentive service to the quality of food and drink. This was my second visit, and like the first visit it left me wanting to go back. Had the smashed avocado, it’s not like every other smashed avocado in Perth. The coffee was strong yet smooth, how I like it. If I hadn’t lived so far from Kalamunda I would be there on the daily not just once a week.

Husband and I here for Valentines Day«brunch» after reading several glowing reviews on Facebook and other review sites. The Café was really busy. They even had 3 different couples sitting at a large table. kinda«communal eating»… But I don’t think this is normal for them but rather a way to ensure more patrons got served. There are two small outdoor tables, inside tables… booths…and a long breakfast bar type bench along the wall with stools so plenty of seating options. We chose to wait around for a booth. The Café is very eccletic in its décor and very cute and über cool. Focus is on excellent food and drinks that are organic and locally sourced and it also caters for all types of allergies and food sensitivities with a menu that offers everything from vegetarian to lactose to low carb options. The menu also changes seasonally too it seems. My husband got their signature«Jack» breakfast which is their man sized carnivore offering. They do a ladylike vegetarian option«The Jill». The Jack is a big breakfast with a twist. Thick Sourdough toast with two eggs done any style(he chose fried), slow roasted tomato, garlic roasted mushroom, cheese kranksy, maple glazed thick cut bacon & mini potato croquettes… he asked for extra bacon… he didn’t really need it as the meal was enormous. I had their quirky take on the traditional Eggs Benni with a hearty serve of golden syrup & thyme marinated«pulled pork», cider hollandaise & pork crumb(crumbled pork crackle)… I added asparagus as a side… again didn’t really need it as the meal was large. Both meals where well presented, delicious, organic and very filling. Their drinks however are not … Husband got their Iced Chocolate which was delicious, but could have maybe been a little bigger… he had to buy a second drink to go with his breakfast… and at $ 6.50 apiece it made it quite expensive. I got their organic home brewed iced tea($ 6.50) and again it was lovely but small… Considering I could of paid less for a pot of tea($ 4.50 a pot) I was a little disappointed. The service is friendly, welcoming, attentive and very quick… and we found the experience overall to be a pleasant one. There is also some very healthy options such as figs on toast or kale and quinoa with poached eggs… and sinfully luscious ones such as waffles with peaches and other delights. Free wifi and also has a kids menu. Was quite noisy once it was full, but still worth the visit.

The joint never fails to disappoint. Ever changing menu so get in regularly so you don’t miss out on the creations. Seriously some of the best fried chicken I’ve eaten. Killer coffee. And the staff are friendly to boot. This Café has upped the ante in the hills.

It took us a year to come here. I can’t believe we took so long! I am a definite fan. The burgers and fries we had were literally perfection on a plate. They were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented and so, so tasty! The fries were espesh devine! So crunchy and little and fresh! Just perfect. My almond milk cappachino was amongst the nicest I’ve had in Perth and trust me, I’ve had a few(few bad ones too!). I like that they have booths and table seating and I really love the long table in the middle(for communal seating –or larger groups). Staff were really lovely and friendly and call out goodbye when you leave which is lovely and gives a nice sense that you actually matter!
