This place was an amazing dining experience. From the virtual iPad menus to the crazy Jpop music this place is truly unique, I would certainly recommend this place for a fun date with your other half. My husband and I are vegetarians which can often result in very few menu options, especially at a Japanese place but they had quite a few varied options, I just wish the churros had come with a little more dipping sauce, the serving dish was only less than a third full and we ran out after 3 of he 5 churros.

This is our fave secret mid-week date place. Nestled under the shadow of the Story Bridge at Kangaroo Point this place offers a quirky spin on modern Japanese cuisine — and really, who doesn’t love tapas? If you’re after that ‘authentic’ Japanese experience this may not be what you’re looking for but if you’re into modern Japanese food with a bit of creative license then this is definitely worth a try. Mitoki’s menu features the usual staples for a Japanese restaurant such as edamame, tempura, udon & miso soup alongside things like Renkon(lotus root) chips, Teriyaki Tofu Caesar Salad and Wasabi Cream Spaghetti. Their menu is often updated and we’re always delighted to try the new things that have appeared since the last time we came(which can only be a 2 week gap at times!) They also offer a killer selection of sake with many regional varieties I’ve not seen anywhere else and other Japan inspired cocktails. The desserts are interesting collision of east & west flavours — Japanese ginger churros, black sesame ice-cream and green tea roll cake. Most end up being surprisingly tasty combos! The staff are always friendly and all ordering can be done via the iPads located on each table — just order at your leisure and food shall cometh! Be warned it is very easy to get carried away ordering via the iPad(cause it’s kinda heaps fun) so be sure to keep tabs on yourself and how much of a bill you’ve racked up! If you do need to talk to the staff directly for any reason there is simply a ‘Call Staff’ button within the iPad ordering system. Only slightly annoying thing is that sometimes item descriptions are very vague — best to ask if you’re unsure before ordering. Vege Friendly items are marked with little green leaf in the corner. I have also previously ordered party platters from here and they were FAB — really well made & presented and reasonable prices for how much food you get. Made to order and ready to pick up on the dot at my specified time.
