When not being hassled by people collecting for illegitimate charities, Kardinya’s hawkers will drive you insane with their offensive sales pitches. This one time an animated youth hassled me to buy two shirts off him for $ 25 so that he could purchase a stick and forget about his life. When I declined he assumed I was bartering with him and lowered his price to sharing a beer with him across the road at the pub. Luckily two locals began having a domestic in the car park so I got involved in that to escape the deranged man. In short, the Kardy shops act as outpost for the forces of evil that live below South St.
I gave it an extra star because Bill from Bills Scoops is a cool dude who runs a radical shop full of delights.

Kardinya is juuuuuuuust far away enough from Garden City Shopping Centre that you wouldn’t want to have to head there every week for grocery supplies. It’s not quite far away enough that I would be coming here for everything else this centre offers though; a limited range of fashion, home wares and gift shops. The K-​Mart and Coles stores in this joint are sizable and modern though and are a much better option than dragging your bones around Garden City. Parking is easy to find too. Not the kind of joint that you’d come to for a look around, but certainly if you’re a local, this is your best bet for food shopping.
