History
Established in 1998.
As is the case with 99% of martial arts schools, BTC started operating from school halls with students of all ages and experience levels in one class. We always thought there was a better though — you would never put grade three kids in with uni students anywhere else, so why do it in martial arts? After looking at best practice around the world, we developed our classes so they were split by both experience level & age group, as well as creating an age specific curriculum so everyone could get the most out of each class. This system worked fantastically well, & we soon out grew the old halls. This year we moved into our own purpose built facility which offers four fully matted & air conditioned halls, a gym facility where parents can workout while watching their kids on the monitor, or sit back in reception with a coffee & wifi (members can use the gym too!). Over this time we also expanded the number of activities offered to include BJJ, Survival Jujitsu, Pilates, PT, & Corp groups
Meet the Business Owner
Adam W.
Business Owner
I first started martial arts over 30 years ago. Of course then I was in primary school and martial arts was mainly for fun. In 1992 I started teaching, & by 1998 I had opened my own club. Over the next few years the club continued to grow & in 2002 I opened a full-time facility that could integrate all aspects of health, & that would allow classes to be split by age & experience level. Since then the centre has developed a solid reputation as a leader in the martial arts.
My personal background was originally in martial arts, although I formally studied a BSc. My ‘on paper’ qualifications are: Full-time professional instructor 6th Dan Master Instructor WTF Taekwondo, 3rd Dan Black Hapkido, experience in Karate, Judo, Kung fU, BJJ & weapons. Cert IV TAA & Bus Man, NCAS Coaching examiner, Referee, Technical Judge.
Of course much of what has been achieved over the past few years is thanks to our great team, and the hundreds of loyal and passionate members of all of BTC’s activities.
