For so long the suburbs seemed to get passed by when it came to good coffee. Then, in early 2013, The Single Guys came to Kenmore. Coffees are spot on, go a standard flatty, capp, long black — or go one of the revolving and evolving single origins with a pour over. Linger longer and peruse the menu. Compact range of casual dining options, but none seem to fail in their execution. As a local business, the guys walk the walk when it comes to supporting other local business in the area too. It’s a great little spot, always heaving, open from 6am M-Sat and 7am on Sunday. Well worth a venture out to the Wild(inner) West.

Hmm, given these guys have quite a good following, I’ve been wanting to try this for some time. The café is small and you can really feel it, especially with an ear piercing screams of suburban children. But the Guys can’t help that, I guess. The service was generally pretty good. One of the guys a bit space cadet, forgetting to charge us for things and forgot to grind my beans(but all is was forgiven when the other Single Guy came to the rescue ;-). They also seemed to missing quite a bit from the menu today. Coffee was good. Not as strong as I like, especially after I was talked out of an extra shot. The V60 iced pour over was very good. Breakfast was numz. I might hold these guys to a higher standard because I’ve heard so much. But all in all a pretty good experience from Guys who obviously care about coffee and food.

Always outstanding coffees and their Chai tea is wonderful! Clever food combos that are tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. Topped off by friendly, efficient service!

A new gem in the western suburbs. Beautiful coffee — tried their house blend and also their single orgin — Ethiopian Yirgagheffe… From my memory I think that’s what I was having. Please correct me if I’m wrong guys. Simple breakfast menu but done well — I had their ham, tomato and dijon mustard toastie — very tasty indeed and my friend had the mushrooms, feta and asparagus on toast. Great local. Been here twice — great stop over for takeaways too. Love the fit out and décor. Warm and friendly staff. :)

Kenmore. A suburb that rarely crossed my mind let alone a suburb I’d actively pursued and visit for coffee. Yet here I sat in The Single Guys, conversations echoing from each corner of the café that was full of people enjoying coffees and ordering from a wholesome menu with choices like a blueberry bagel with vanilla ricotta and honey, or swiss brown mushrooms, fetta, asparagus with fig vincotto on sourdough. Staff did a beautiful dance from table to table in their unofficial uniforms of a white tee, jeans and black cons. All complimented by their dark grey aprons against the navy and white walls of this unassuming but ready to be recognised café. From Moggill Road you might miss it so keep an eye out for their mascot, a lone deer on a sign. One of the owners tell me the stag is a play on the image being a symbol of bachelor life, although their name is more of an ode to their house blend being a combination of single origin beans. Despite the clean and hipsterific interior, the crowd here is mixed: young and old alike. It’s a great hub of activity. I ordered the mushroom toastie which was the perfect breakfast or light lunch, and on a hot Summers day their Iced V60 black coffee was the deliciously mellow drink I needed to befriend on a day like today. And the flat white was perfection in a white china cup.
