I often grab a café and snack from this café as I pass by and was looking forward to trying the breakfast. Coffee was great, wild mushroom with poached egg sounded perfect until I received it. The size was extremely small and although presented well, the meal itself had hardly any substance and wasn’t even provided on toast. As I had presumed this from the menu I advised the waitress that I was disappointed in the size of the meal for the price I was paying and asked if it would be possible to have a slice of toast to add to it. She brought one out which I presumed would be complimentary. If I had known that I would have to pay another $ 3 for 1 standard piece of white bread I would have left it. When I politely raised my disappointment with the owner upon paying, she dismissed me justifying that market standard was $ 8 for two slices of toast, implying I had a good deal! She also offered no compensation or apology. Considering I eat out regularly and am more than aware of ‘standard’ pricing and quality cafes and restaurants and what they offer at certain price points I will not eat there again. Staff were young and untrained and definitely not attentive and the whole lack of customer service speaks for itself.

Great food with lovely service, and the cruffin is pure genius(croissant/muffin). Lovely courtyard out back to enjoy with the dogs also.

Great coffee and delicious food at this chilled out, modern café on busy Burke Road. The menu is pretty meat heavy, so veggie eaters be warned. The options you do have are delicious though! Great outdoor seating, big dining room. Light and breezy.

Big fan of Ben, the new guy in Kew/Balwyn town. Located on the corner of Burke and Belmore, where the whole strip seems to be going under some development with a new giant bottle shop also just open a few doors down, Ben fills a void location-wise that otherwise had locals going to Kew or Camberwell main shops for a breakfast bite. The food is pretty basic, but delicious. Recommend the scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and truffle oil, and keep popping in hoping to try a ‘Cruffin’ but they’re always sold out! One day soon, you will be mine! Staff are very friendly and keen to impress, and atmosphere is nice and relaxed, with chill music and a great medium sized outdoor area for when the sun is shining. So far locals seem to have embraced it, which is good news for young Benny boy!
