Great shop, with a lot of mediterranean food, one thing, it’s quite expensive.

I am impressed every single time I go into Leo’s. It has to be one of my favorite supermarkets. The range is so wide, I feel like you could go in there and always find something. Shelves are packed in such a nice homely way. Last time, I stumbled upon a spoon of chocolate to make hot chocolate with. Who knew? Plus, their selection of wine has a lot to offer. I could get lost in this supermarket, just looking at everything that they have.

Fresh everything! This is the first impression you get when you walk into this store. The veggies look like I have been transported to Whole Foods in Los Angeles and the meats look divine. As you walk through the sidles, you notice the numerous international imported goods from marinades to spices to delicious bbq sauces. The sweets aisle is first class and the beverage section is first class. As I am moving to Kew, I know this will become a favorite for me and the Family. Be sure you do not come hungry to the store — you might just max your card and stuff your fridge!

i kind of expected this supermarket to be more like thomas dux(or wholefoods in the US) with lots of variety of gourmet(read: pretentious) food, which i love. it’s more like 70% normal supermarket, and the other 30% is the more unusual brands. i wandered around here in a bit of a hungover daze, trying to find the perfect recovery meal. i ended up settling on chicken and wild mushroom lasagna and some organic chocolate. the cordial selection is pretty impressive. the deli was decent. they had cherry coke that i grabbed to keep the husband happy. overall it’s nice, but at this point i’d still prefer thomas dux.

While I love a good supermarket… i can’t help but feel underwhelmed and a little ripped off when entering Leo’s. Yes, they do have fine foods and they are expensive but most of the products I have needed I can find elsewhere, alternative supermarkets, deli’s and /or green grocers in the area & possibly cheaper at times. I’m not sure if I was expecting something new and radical but I feel like i’ve seen it all before. The store is however immaculate and it does provide the convenience factor of collecting all your deliquesces including cold meats in one sweep but day old pre-packaged sushi, $ 9 really?

The original Leo’s Fine Food & Wine in Kew does a lot right. The bakery, the deli with gourmet cheese, antipasto and salad. The wide range of meats and fresh produce that share the spotlight with a diverse grocery collection. This is the spot to pick up gourmet food for your picnic basket or your next morning tea. However this supermarket has simply outgrown itself. It is full to bursting point with tantlizing tastes and aromas. The result is chaotic. The problem isn’t the space itself, more that I have spent time in its sibling supermarket in Heidelberg. That location has wide aisles, great lighting, windows and feels spacious, not so Kew. It does gourmet as well as anyone though and is a great place to browse. I liked the blackboard listing liquor specials and was chuffed to find Viru, an Estonian beer that I enjoyed while living in there. Queue Tallinn flashbacks.

In my 25 years I have never come across a supermarket quite as decadent as Leo’s in Kew. With quality food from across the world, the freshest of meat and vegetables, and even freshly squeezed juice available for an extremely cheap price, if you are looking for the best you should head to Leo’s. I head there for lunch as they have pre-packaged sushi/fritattas/pastries ready to go — all healthy, and all very fresh. Or if you are looking to cook something extra fancy for that Someone Special, you can get the very finest quality here. Admittedly the products here are at a slightly higher price, but it is well worth it.
