Menu is reasonable for vegetarian and vegan options with a nice wine selection that is fairly priced. The service was ultra fast for the amount of patrons dining this evening.

This place is ok, just ok. The chickpea fritters suck, it tasted like they were out of a packet and served with sweet chilli sauce… Really? And then the curry, although was pretty good it was $ 21.00 for like a cup full. The naan was good. This places charges too much for what you’re getting and has a reputation that exceeds itself.

If you’re stuck in launceston trying to decide where to eat. Go here and you won’t be disappointed. Waiting for the food to arrive took longer than I’d expected but it was well worth the wait.

When you are away from home — you crave home cooked meals. So we ordered takeaways on a cold wintery day — butter chicken, lamb vindaloo and garlic naan. Lets say the naan was the best thing. My quest to find the best Indian in Australia so far has failed miserably. The lamb was boiled or cooked separately — well it seemed that way and then simply added to the vindaloo sauce. For that simple reason, I rarely order a lamb dishes at Indian restaurants. The butter chicken was quite sweet(but my kids loved it). And the naan was the winner!

The prawn masala curry was darn good — sweet and tasty! The curry deserves a 4 or 5 … … but the prawns themselves did not taste great. If I ordered again, I would have asked for paneer instead of prawns. Also, the garlic naan was wet, but since I had mine for takeaway, maybe this was a factor.

Realized not a lot of Aussie’s use Unilocal so Ill be the first reviewer for Pickled Evenings! We somehow stumbled upon this restaurant and our first experience was for take away, it was a cold evening and we decided we would have some curry to warm us up as we werent use to the COLD. My husband orderd the lamb madras and I ordered the vegatable korma. The madras was heaven, creamy and just the right spicys, my korma was good too but I found myself eating mostly off my hubby’s plate as I couldnt get enought of this creamy heaven. We returned again at a later date for dine in and we ordered the lamb and chicken madras, perfection just like the first time! The spinach and cheese naan bread was nothing special but I recommend the garlic naan bread instead, so yummy soft and just the right amount of garlic. I just hope we can somehow find a Indian restaurant back home(California) that can deliver such an amazing madras…
