Came here with a groupon deal for two, it included two drinks incl. wine and a seafood platter. We were pleasantly surprised to see the portion of the platter that came out and all of the seafood was cooked nicely. Not all items were deed fried which is definitely a plus. The highlights were the battered calamari, battered fish, grilled king prawns which were definitely king sized, and the massive grilled octopus. Honestly, nothing on there was bad at all, I’ve almost listed all the seafood that was given I think, haha, the only thing we could have done without would have been the white bait. The platter came as seafood on a bed of fries which were also done nicely, some lemon wedges, and some simple Greek salad. All in all, the atmosphere was nice, the service was friendly, however I don’t think I would pay full price for the platter if that was the regular portion. Regular price is $ 49/pp, 2 order min. Verdict– we left the place satisfied and were craving for it by the time we went home. Afterthought… Will be back to try their daily specials

A Greek food loving friend invited me to dinner at Varelli, telling me it is his favourite Greek restaurant in Sydney. I was really impressed. The restaurant has a real authentic taverna feeling, the owner and staff were really friendly and the food was great. I had traditional Greek dips and pitta bread for starters, the dips are made in house, I’m a bit of a Tzatzika fan and Varelli’s was as good as I’ve had. I also tried the Greek salad, really fresh and tasty. For main I had the lamb shoulder, the portion was huge, the lamb just fell away from the bone and was really good. I was too full to try dessert so had a Greek coffee which was also good. Had a brand of Greek beer I hadn’t tried before, which was nice. Also plenty of vegetarian options if required. I’ll definitely go back, well worth the trip to Norton Street.
