Its never nice to think that one day, your furry or scaly companion will no longer be with you, so it is good to know a service is available for them when it is their time to go. We have recently sold our house and my feline friend and my mother in laws dog were buried in our garden. We were advised that we could not make any changes to the grounds after settlement date so we made the decision to have them exhumed and cremated so they could come with us. Not having a clue where to start, I rang my wonderful vets who referred me to Pets in Peace as they have looked after their own pets when their time arrived. I also spoke with three people who are foster carers and all three advised the exact same thing. So now, there was no doubt who I would be using. I rang Pets in Peace and spoke with a lovely lady(Mel) who told me the whole process and guided me through everything. She was incredibly supportive and understanding the emotions that come with talking about your best friend and she even wanted me to tell her a story about each of them. After we decided on all the finer details, she then advised that the owner of Pets in Peace(Martin) would phone me and discuss dates and times of exhumation. Martin(who has worked in the funeral business prior to starting Pets in Peace) was wonderful — extremely caring but professional and told me how the whole process goes. He, along with a carefully selected colleague, do the exhumation, they transport the remains to their crematorium where evrything is taken care of. When the day came, they were on time, professional and caring with what remains were left. They were at the house for about an hour and preformed both exhumations with dignity and respect. My non-human companions were returned to me a week later in a beautfully presented box and all care was taken with them. Pets in Peace are the only company in Brisbane that perform exhumations and they advised that they exhume at least one pet a week. Knowing that eventually I will need to use them again, I can highly recommend them, their staff and their services.
