I’m surprised I only have one check in for Longview because I feel like I’m up here every month or so. The vineyard is beautiful and it produces fantastic wines. I’m not ashamed to say that if you gave me a sunny afternoon and a bottle of their Whippet sauv blanc, I’d be set for the rest of the day. Aside from the appeal of the wines themselves, Longview does a fantastic job of hosting events throughout the year that keep me coming back to enjoy the experiences it offers. The Krush Klinic is a spray-paint competition complete with DJ and street food, the Sunday tapas lunch is not to be missed, the comedy dinner evenings are a blast(and involve free-slowing drinks), and any wedding held there is sure to be lovely. If you are so inclined, Longview has also introduced several small apartments and cabins on the property, so if you just can’t tear yourself away from the vineyard at the end of your night, you don’t have to(just be prepared with that credit card as it’s not cheap!).

Sunday Tapas at Longview is always amazing, and they have great wines too. It’s a set Tapas menu, which is awesome because you don’t have to work out what to order, you just sit down and get brought an array of amazing food. Love discussing all the different dishes, and what I think of them, and hearing what others enjoyed. Go with your parter, or with another couple, and enjoy the food, wine and the stunning country scenery. It’s a lovely spot. It’s a little expensive at $ 45 per head, but you get what you pay for, and overall it’s good value for money, and a lovely experience. The menu changes throughout the year, so by the time you visit again, there’s a whole new lineup to try. Highly recommend, it’s a favourite of ours.

Not being a great partaker of drinks of the alcoholic variety, I rarely visit wineries but recently a group of us headed down to Longview winery for a christmas lunch and it was fabulous. The place itself was very picturesque, set up on the top of the valley with a sweeping view down into the vinyards. We were seated on the verandah which was a very pleasant spot to while away the afternoon. We had a tapas style lunch which inluded mixed entrees, main courses and sweets for $ 40 which was quite good value. There was more than enough food and a good selection: My particular favourite was the sweet potato and ginger cakes and an amazing lentil salad which I would love to replicate at home — delicious. The wines were pricey but very good. I had their Whippet, Sauvignon Blanc which was beautifully crisp and fruity. The staff were very friendly and accommodating even though they were run off their feet. The winery itself had a fixation with quirky animals: There were blue and white painted cows dotted here and there and most of the wines were named after animals. The winery would be equally pleasant to visit in the summer or winter and there are lots of attractions for children with hay carts places to run and little nooks to explore. Just a couple of things that they could improve on: They were stingy with plates; we had to scrape off our olive pits for the next course rather than getting fresh ones. Also with the sweet selection they didn’t bing plates or even fresh serviettes. Finally, they weren’t too impressed with us paying seperately even though we split the bill evenly and didn’t ask for seperate accounts.
