History

Established in 2010.

Dave Monk is a master artist with over 25 years in design, fine art and graphics and over ten years as a professional tattoo artist. Also a qualified Minister, which is where after six years of abstinence from meat, alcohol, tobacco, drugs and sex etc, Dave gained the nickname ‘Monk’. This was later changed to ‘Mad Monk’ (because of his original tattoo designs) by his dear friend and fellow tattooist Jimbo «drunky pugwash». Whilst working in the Palm Beach tattoo studio made famous by the tattoo artists ‘Nutz’ Robinson and Adam (jaff) Jaffer.

Mackay was an obvious choice for ‘Mad Monk Tattoo’ my first studio, as for the last 6 years I had my business in the Whitsunday region. Almost all of Dave’s clients would come from Mackay and the coal fields, with a small amount from the local back packer and islands market.

I can tattoo any style you like from old/new school to Japanese (traditional or western influenced) and awesome freehand, with portraits being one of my favorites.
